Migration and Swiss identity: How much space for the foreign in the familiar?

open access: yesStudies in Communication Sciences, 2017
Twentyfive years ago, in 1992, the Seville Expo world exhibition took place on the subject of “national identity”. The Swiss pavilion presented its country in a rather controversial and provocative way with the slogan “La Suisse n’existe pas ...

Chemoselective Metabolomics via a Modular Reactivity‐Encoding Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Conventional LC–MS underrepresents numerous metabolites due to heterogeneous ionization efficiencies and matrix interference. Here, we introduce a modular reactivity‐encoding platform (MREP) comprising four alkyne‐tagged probes that selectively derivatize key functional groups, followed by unified click‐chemistry capture to eliminate matrix components ...

Isomeric Ag14 Nanoclusters With Distinct Photophysical and Nanomechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ligand‐shell isomerism in atomically precise Ag14 nanoclusters is demonstrated to regulate core distortion, photoluminescence, and mechanical properties. Subtle changes in phosphine ligand arrangement drive a pronounced emission shift from green to red and alter crystal rigidity, revealing a direct structure‐property correlation that offers new design ...

Cyclic Voltammetry to Study Dynamics of Ion Insertion in Porous Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Energy & Sustainability Research
Electrochemical charge storage in porous materials is associated with ion adsorption at the meso/nanopores surface (physical insertion) and/or insertion in the bulk material (chemical insertion).

Targeted Degradation of Picornaviral 3C Protease via PROTACs Confers High Barrier to Viral Resistance and Broad‐Spectrum Antiviral Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports D34 as the first PROTAC degrader that targets the 3C protease of picornaviruses. D34 effectively degrades EV71 3C protease via the ubiquitin‐proteasome pathway. More importantly, D34 exhibits a high resistance barrier and shows broad‐spectrum antiviral activity against multiple picornaviruses, highlighting its potential as a novel ...

Genetics of Human and Canine Dilated Cardiomyopathy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Genomics, 2015
Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death in both humans and dogs. Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) accounts for a large number of these cases, reported to be the third most common form of cardiac disease in humans and the second most common in dogs.

Renal Clearable Luminogenic Reporter for Ultrasensitive Influenza Virus Imaging and Efficient Antiviral Therapies Monitoring in Living Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A viral luminogenic reporter with chemiluminescence/fluorescence dual‐response and efficient renal clearance was developed for non‐invasive imaging and urinalysis of H1N1 virus protease, allowing for remote detection of H1N1 virus infections and monitoring of antiviral therapeutic efficacy in living mice.

Black Hole Quencher‐Enhanced Plasmonic Photothermal Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Researchers have developed a universal method to boost plasmonic photothermal conversion by attaching black hole quencher (BHQ) molecules to matched metal nanostructures. This hybrid approach increases efficiency by roughly threefold, reaching up to 69.1% in the near‐infrared‐II window.

NANOPARTICLES FROM WITHIN: EFFECTS OF SYNTHESIS AND STOICHIOMETRY ON EXSOLUTION

open access: yesAnales (Asociación Física Argentina)
In this work, we aim to functionalize the surface of a perovskite oxide (ABO3 structure) with Ni-Fe nanoparticles via the exsolution technique, with the goal of enhancing its electrocatalytic properties as an electrode for solid oxide cells (SOC ...
