Recent H-alpha results on pulsar B2224+65's bow-shock nebula, the "Guitar" [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We used the 4 m Discovery Channel Telescope (DCT) at Lowell observatory in 2014 to observe the Guitar Nebula, an Hα bow-shock nebula around the high-velocity radio pulsar B2224+65.

Quantitative morphology of renal cortical structures during compensatory hypertrophy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The compensatory hypertrophy in different renal cortical structures was studied in rats 10 and 21 days after unilateral nephrectomy (UNX). Quantitative morphological/stereological analysis revealed significant increases in total renal cortical volume ...

High capacity steganographic method based upon JPEG [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The two most important aspects of any image-based steganographic system are the quality of the stegoimage and the capacity of the cover image. This paper proposes a novel and high capacity steganographic approach based on Discrete Cosine Transformation (

A New Method For Digital Watermarking Based on Combination of DCT and PCA

open access: yes, 2015
In the digital watermarking with DCT method, the watermark is located within a range of DCT coefficients of the cover image. In this paper to use the low-frequency band, a new method is proposed by using a combination of the DCT and PCA transform.

Multiple description video coding based on zero padding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This paper proposes a simple multiple description video coding approach based on zero padding theory. It is completely based on pre- and post-processing, which require no modifications to the source codec.

Two-dimensional DCT/IDCT architecture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A fully parallel architecture for the computation of a two-dimensional (2-D) discrete cosine transform (DCT), based on row-column decomposition is presented.

Type-II/III DCT/DST algorithms with reduced number of arithmetic operations

open access: yes, 2009
We present algorithms for the discrete cosine transform (DCT) and discrete sine transform (DST), of types II and III, that achieve a lower count of real multiplications and additions than previously published algorithms, without sacrificing numerical ...

Fast algorithm for the 3-D DCT-II [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Recently, many applications for three-dimensional (3-D) image and video compression have been proposed using 3-D discrete cosine transforms (3-D DCTs). Among different types of DCTs, the type-II DCT (DCT-II) is the most used.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

A content-aware quantisation mechanism for transform domain distributed video coding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The discrete cosine transform (DCT) is widely applied in modern codecs to remove spatial redundancies, with the resulting DCT coefficients being quantised to achieve compression as well as bit-rate control. In distributed video coding (DVC) architectures
