Commodity risk assessment of Malus domestica plants from Turkey

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 20, Issue 5, May 2022., 2022
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to prepare and deliver risk assessments for commodities listed in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/2019 as ‘High risk plants, plant products and other objects’. This Scientific Opinion covers plant health risks posed by dormant grafted plants, rootstocks, budwood and ...

Targeting the non‐ATP‐binding pocket of the MAP kinase p38γ mediates a novel mechanism of cytotoxicity in cutaneous T‐cell lymphoma (CTCL)

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 595, Issue 20, Page 2570-2592, October 2021., 2021
We describe here for the first time a lipid‐binding‐domain (LBD) in p38γ mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MAPK) involved in the response of T cells to a newly identified inhibitor, CSH71. We describe how CSH71, which binds to both the LBD and the ATP‐binding pocket of p38γ, is selectively cytotoxic to CTCL Hut78 cells but spares normal healthy ...

Scientific validation of plant extracts used by farmers in the management of bean flower thrips on French beans in Kenya

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 148, Issue 10, Page 1235-1244, December 2024.
Abstract Bean flower thrips (Megalurothrips usitatus) is a major French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) pest. Small‐scale farmers manage the pest using mixed plant extracts although their efficacy has not been scientifically validated. We evaluated the efficacy of mixed plant extracts comprising; Capsicum frutescens, Allium sativum, Lantana camara ...

Design Rules for the Nano‐Bio Interface of Nanodiamonds: Implications for siRNA Vectorization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 34, Issue 30, July 24, 2024.
The study presents a non‐viral vector for siRNA based on nanodiamond coated with a novel copolymer with tunable charge density. The properties of the vector are optimized by several physicochemical variables and polymer composition, and correlated with biological efficacy, cytotoxicity, and cell proliferation.

Unwinding NFTs in the shadow of IP law

open access: yesAmerican Business Law Journal, Volume 61, Issue 1, Page 31-55, Spring 2024.
Abstract Amid the surge of intellectual property (IP) disputes surrounding non‐fungible tokens (NFTs), some scholars have advocated for the application of personal property or sales law to regulate NFT minting and transactions, contending that IP laws unduly hinder the development of the NFT market. This Article counters these proposals and argues that
