Development of In Vitro Parkinson's Disease Model Mediated by MPP+ and α-Synuclein Using Wharton's Jelly Mesenchymal Stem Cells. [PDF]
A cost‐effective and rapid in vitro model of Parkinson's disease was created using Wharton's Jelly‐derived mesenchymal stem cells by employing MPP+ iodide or A53T mutated α‐synuclein. ABSTRACT Main Problem The mechanism behind Parkinson's disease (PD) is still unclear, and a cure to stop its progression is yet to be found.

Direct targeted therapy for MLL-fusion-driven high-risk acute leukaemias. [PDF]
Direct inhibition of MLL‐fusion proteins is a potential therapeutic strategy. MLL‐fusion depletion screen identified disulfiram for its ability to ablate MLL‐fusion protein and block‐associated leukaemic phenotype. Disulfiram directly targets the CXXC domain that is essential for all MLL‐fusion proteins.

Guidelines for preparation and flow cytometry analysis of human nonlymphoid tissue DC. [PDF]
We here provide detailed protocols for isolating single cell suspension from human nonlymphoid tissues, such as gingiva, lung, intestine, skin, and different tumor tissues as well as tumor‐draining lymph nodes. Further, we provide gating strategies for flow cytometric analysis of human DC subpopulations in diverse nonlymphoid tissues.

The self‐assembly of block‐copolymers into photonic films and pigments has drawn significant attention due to the tunability of the optical response. In this Scientific Perspective we identify and rationalize the limited range of monomers and polymerization methods employed to produce such structurally colored materials to date.

Guidelines for mouse and human DC functional assays
Conventional DC (cDC) represent a heterogenous family of professional antigen‐presenting cells. Basic functions common to all tissue‐resident cDC include antigen uptake, lymph node migration, and naive T cell priming to induce appropriate effector and regulatory T cell responses.

Olfactory dysfunction is one of the most prevalent symptoms of Parkinson's disease preceding clinical onset by up to a decade. However, PD models focus mainly on motor symptoms and nigrostriatal degeneration. Here, we characterize cultured olfactory bulb organotypic slices and cells and explore the effect of DOPAL, a metabolite of dopamine.

Guidelines for mouse and human DC generation
The article on DC generation is part of the DC Guidelines article collection providing methods for the isolation of mouse and human cellular sources that can be cultured with different growth factors to generate the known subsets of DC. Abstract This article is part of the Dendritic Cell Guidelines article series, which provides a collection of state ...

To preserve, release, and litigate: Dimensions of executive branch transparency
Abstract Transparency is essential for public awareness of government activity and in holding officials accountable for their behavior and decisions. However, executives understandably have a desire to maintain autonomy over the flow of information outside of the executive branch, which can sometimes lead to a clash between government openness and ...
