Examining the ‘gendered’ places and spaces of UK doctoral education using multilevel modelling

open access: yesTransactions of the Institute of British Geographers, Volume 50, Issue 3, September 2025.
Short Abstract Research on gender in higher education frequently focuses on either micro‐ or macro‐scale factors, such as power relations and working practices, or disciplinary norms and the educational ‘pipeline’. As a result, the connecting meso‐scale of ‘place’—embodied in the department and institution—is often missing both conceptually and ...

Co–Fe–Ni‐Based High‐Entropy Superalloys with γ/γ′ Microstructure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 7, April 2025.
Six high‐entropy superalloys are designed and evaluated for high‐temperature phase stability. In the results of this study, future alloy design and computational databases are informed for coherent precipitate‐strengthened alloys. The most promising alloy of this study has completely equiatomic γ and γ’ formers, demonstrating that a new class of high ...

Bird's eye view of natural products for the development of new anti‐HIV agents: Understanding from a therapeutic viewpoint

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 441-457, March 2025.
Development of pharmaceutical drugs to cure HIV is crucial due to the current widespread epidemic. Nucleosides are the most effective anti‐HIV drugs, but their high toxicity and drug resistance limit their use. This review focuses on potential natural medicinal products for treating and managing HIV and AIDS.

Ink Casting and 3D‐Extrusion Printing of Yb14MnSb11 for High‐Temperature Thermoelectric Material

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 8, February 19, 2025.
3D‐structured Yb14MnSb11, a p‐type thermoelectric material exhibiting high values of Figure of Merit (zT1) until 1000 °C, is fabricated using ink‐extrusion printing and pressureless reactive sintering, achieving a high phase purity (83–94%) and a low porosity (82% relative density).

Guidelines for preparation and flow cytometry analysis of human nonlymphoid tissue DC

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 55, Issue 1, January 2025.
We here provide detailed protocols for isolating single cell suspension from human nonlymphoid tissues, such as gingiva, lung, intestine, skin, and different tumor tissues as well as tumor‐draining lymph nodes. Further, we provide gating strategies for flow cytometric analysis of human DC subpopulations in diverse nonlymphoid tissues.

Electrically Conductive Injectable Silk/PEDOT: PSS Hydrogel for Enhanced Neural Network Formation

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, Volume 113, Issue 1, January 2025.
ABSTRACT With no effective treatments for functional recovery after injury, spinal cord injury (SCI) remains one of the unresolved healthcare challenges. Human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) transplantation is a versatile patient‐specific regenerative approach for functional recovery after SCI.

Tungsten's Role in Enhancing Sintering Resistance of Fe‐W Hierarchical Foams during Redox Cycling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 34, Issue 52, December 23, 2024.
Increasing W concentration to 18–25 at.% in lamellar Fe‐W foams introduces a sufficient volume fraction of W‐rich phases (λ‐Fe2W and FeWO4 in the reduced and oxidized states respectively) to inhibit the sintering of lamellae with hierarchical porosity during high‐temperature redox cycling.
