PRELIMINARY STRUCTURAL OPTIMIZATION OF SOME FUMONISIN METABOLITES BY DENSITY FUNCTIONAL THEORY CALCULATION [PDF]

open access: yesPoljoprivreda, 2015
Maize (Zea mays L.) is often contaminated with Fusarium verticillioides. This harmful fungus produces fumonisins as secondary metabolites. These fumonisins can appear both free and hidden form in planta.

Toward Nano‐Nutritional Medicine: A Remotely Activated Trans‐Vaccenic Acid‐Based Lipid Nanoparticles for Enhancing Immune Checkpoint Blockade Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Eutectic mixtures from trans‐vaccenic acid (TVA) and stearic acid, which served as phase‐change material to encapsulate IR780, forming NIR‐responsive nanoparticles. IR780@TVA LNPs induce photothermal therapy and initiate adaptive anti‐tumor immunity.

Real‐Time Stress Visualization of Hydrogels Enabled by Supramolecularly Switched Stretch‐Induced Phase Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Supramolecular hydrogels enable real‐time visualization of mechanical stress through supramolecular switching mechanotransduction. Adamantane‐modified cellulose functions as a responsive domain that undergoes an on–off transition between hydrated and dehydrated states via reversible β‐cyclodextrin–adamantane complexation and decomplexation.

Mesquite-Derived Galactomannan Esters as Novel Oleogelators: Emulsion Characteristics and Their Emulsion-Templated Oleogels

open access: yesPolysaccharides
This study investigates the emulsifying capacity (EC), emulsion stability (ES), and oleogel-forming potential of galactomannan (GM) esters modified with decanoic (GD) and palmitic (GP) fatty acids at low (L) and high (H) degrees of esterification (DE ...

Chemical and instrumental characterization of pectin from dried pomace of eleven apple cultivars - doi: 10.4025/actasciagron.v33i3.7125

open access: yesActa Scientiarum. Agronomy, 2011
Pectic substances from eleven samples of dried apple pomace were extracted using an acid procedure (100 mM HNO3, 10 min., 80ºC), dried, ground and stored in a P2O5 atmosphere.

Engineered Au@CeO2 Hybrid Nanoparticles With Microenvironment Dependent Self‐Adjustability for Integration of Tumor‐Specific Photothermal‐Chemodynamic Therapy and Inflammation Prevention

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An intelligent Au@CeO2 Hybrid Nanoparticles (ACEF) with microenvironment‐dependent self‐adjustability was engineered to not only perform efficient and tumor‐specific photothermal‐chemodynamic therapy for precise tumor elimination, but also serve as a ROS scavenger in healthy tissues around the tumor to avoid the unexpected oxidative damage and ...

Metabolie Conversions of Trichothecene Mycotoxins: De-esterification Reactions Using Cell-Free Extracts of Fusarium

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung C, 1989
A crude cell-free extract from cultures of Fusarium sp. strain C37410-90 possessed significant esterase activity and hydrolyzed the trichothecene mycotoxin 3-acetyldeoxynivalenol (3-AcDON) to deoxynivalenol (DON) in high yield. Smaller amounts of 15-acetyl- and 3,15-diacetyl-esters of DON were also formed. The extract was capable of hydrolyzing a range

Programmable Multi‐Axially Aligned Aerogels via Sequential Freeze‐Casting for Tailored Anisotropy and Tunable Mechanics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Conventional single‐gradient freeze‐casting typically produces unidirectional porous architectures with limited transverse connectivity. The Sequential Hybridization by Infiltration and Freeze‐casting Technique (SHIFT) addresses this constraint by integrating secondary aligned structures within a preformed primary scaffold.

Cell wall O-acetyl and methyl esterification patterns of leaves reflected in atmospheric emission signatures of acetic acid and methanol.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Plants emit high rates of methanol (meOH), generally assumed to derive from pectin demethylation, and this increases during abiotic stress. In contrast, less is known about the emission and source of acetic acid (AA).

Detoxification of Mycotoxins through Biotransformation

open access: yesToxins, 2020
Mycotoxins are toxic fungal secondary metabolites that pose a major threat to the safety of food and feed. Mycotoxins are usually converted into less toxic or non-toxic metabolites through biotransformation that are often made by living organisms as well
