Multifunctional Multilayer Nanospheres for Ion Regulation in Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesBatteries, 2023
Lithium metal anodes have the potential to break through the theoretical energy density bottleneck of commercial lithium ion batteries. However, the solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer generated from the decomposition of traditional lithium metal ...

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Fluorinated hybrid solid-electrolyte-interphase for dendrite-free lithium deposition

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Here the authors report a simple method to create a solid electrolyte interphase that is tightly anchored onto the surface of lithium metal anode. This artificial structure suppresses dead and dendrite Li and stores Li via formation of alloys, enabling ...

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

Long-term field metal extraction by pelargonium:phytoextraction efficiency in relation to plant maturity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The long length of periods required for effective soil remediation via phytoextraction constitutes a weak point that reduces its industrial use. However, these calculated periods are mainly based on short-term and/or hydroponic controlled experiments ...

Dead layer thickness estimation at the ferroelectric film-metal interface in PZT [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2019
Different models for estimation of the dead layer thickness at the ferroelectric film-metal interface are discussed, including the small-signal capacitance model and two methods based on dielectric hysteresis analysis—one based on slopes of the hysteresis loops at the coercive field and the other method based on comparison of dielectric hysteresis ...

Comparative assessment of crystallographic and cryo‐EM models in the Protein Data Bank

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Raw data obtained by X‐ray crystallography or cryo‐EM result in experimental maps, ultimately fitted by atomic models. Although the physical principles are different, the final results can be viewed, compared, and evaluated in the same way. With cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) on track to surpass X‐ray crystallography as the preferred method ...

Pb2+ biosorption from aqueous solutions by live and dead biosorbents of the hydrocarbon-degrading strain Rhodococcus sp. HX-2.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
In this study, the Pb2+ biosorption potential of live and dead biosorbents of the hydrocarbon-degrading strain Rhodococcus sp. HX-2 was analyzed. Optimal biosorption conditions were determined via single factor optimization, which were as follows ...

Organic Matter and Heavy Metals Sorption

open access: yesTikrit Journal for Agricultural Sciences, 2022
Organic matter content in soils is highly variable and includes dead and living organisms and their decomposition products. plant residue and humic substances. Thermodynamically, organic matter is unstable in soils and later will oxidize to Co2, and H2O.
