Passive and Active Nonlinear Control of Ship Roll Motions Using U-Tube Tanks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A U-tube water tank is first designed to roll a ship floating on still water. The 6-degree of freedom (DOF) dynamic model of U-tube tank is derived and the effects of its parameters on ship roll motion are studied.

Long‐Distance Corridors Facilitate Asian Elephant Adaptation to Climate Change 长距离廊道有助于亚洲象适应气候变化

open access: yesIntegrative Conservation, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 57-70, March 2025.
Climate change presents significant challenges for Asian elephants, forcing them to either remain in degraded habitats or seek new ones. But, remaining would lead to resource shortages, while moving is hindered by movement barriers. This study integrates species distribution models (MaxEnt) and the minimum cumulative resistance (MCR) model to construct

Harmonics Mitigation and Non-Ideal Voltage Compensation Utilizing Active Power Filter Based On Predictive Current Control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
It is well-known that the presence of non-linear loads in the distribution system can impair the power quality. The problem becomes worse in microgrids and power electronic-based power systems as the increasing penetration of single-phase distributed ...

Alpha and Theta Oscillations Associated With Behavioral Phenotypes of Pain–Attention Interaction

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 15, Issue 1, January 2025.
We determined the brain–behavior relationships between resting‐state alpha and theta oscillations within the dynamic pain connectome and pain–attention phenotypes (IAP and A/P). Compared to those with high IAP, individuals with low IAP had higher theta power. However, alpha activity is similar for those who attend to pain versus another focus. ABSTRACT

Prädiktive Regelung und Finite-Set-Beobachter für Windgeneratoren mit variabler Drehgeschwindigkeit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
This dissertation presents several model predictive control (MPC) techniques and finite-position-set observers (FPSOs) for permanent-magnet synchronous generators and doubly-fed induction generators in variable-speed wind turbines. The proposed FPSOs are

Global brain activity and its coupling with cerebrospinal fluid flow is related to tau pathology

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 20, Issue 12, Page 8541-8555, December 2024.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Factors responsible for the deposition of pathological tau in the brain are incompletely understood. This study links macroscale tau deposition in the human brain to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow dynamics using resting‐state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rsfMRI).

Model Predictive Observer Based Control for Single-Phase Asymmetrical T-Type AC/DC Power Converter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
© 1972-2012 IEEE. This paper presents a robust control strategy for the control of single-phase five-level asymmetrical T-type ac/dc power converter. A cascaded control scheme consisting of a finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) with an ...

USP26 Combats Age‐Related Declines in Self‐Renewal and Multipotent Differentiation of BMSC by Maintaining Mitochondrial Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 11, Issue 44, November 26, 2024.
This work shows the schematic of how USP26 combats age‐related declines in self‐renewal and multipotent differentiation of BMSC by maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis. As bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) age, decreased hypoxia‐inducible factor 1α (HIF‐1α) expression reduces its binding to the ‐191 — ‐198 and ‐262 — ‐269 bp regions on the ...

Dynamic transient brain states in preschoolers mirror parental report of behavior and emotion regulation

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 45, Issue 14, October 2024.
Transitions toward prefrontal brain states (BS) predict better scores in questionnaires assessing executive functioning, behavioral and emotion regulation abilities. Conversely, higher probability of transitioning toward default‐mode BS predicts worse scores in the same measures.
