Surge-type Black Rapids Glacier, Alaska, has undergone strong retreat since it last surged in 1936–1937. To assess its evolution during the late Twentieth and Twenty-first centuries and determine potential implications for surge likelihood, we run a ...

Debris-Influenced Sliding Laws and Basal Debris Balance [PDF]
AbstractIn order to determine the effect of basal debris drag as a component in a sliding law, it is necessary to know the basal debris concentration. Does, for example, this debris concentration exhibit uniformity, in an average sense, across a valley?

ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

On the Formulation of Basal Debris Drag for the Case of Sparse Debris [PDF]
AbstractTwo models are presented for the formulation of abrasion and basal drag due to rock–rock friction (debris drag) for the case of sparse debris entrained in the basal layers of a temperate glacier resting on a bedrock bed. The first model is formulated in terms of average basal melting rate, va, and the concentration, C, of basal debris fragments

A Different Perspective on the Solid Lubrication Performance of Black Phosphorous: Friend or Foe?
Researchers investigate black phosphorous (BP) as a standalone solid lubricant coating through ball‐on‐disc linear‐reciprocating sliding experiments in dry conditions. Testing on different metals shows BP doesn't universally reduce friction and wear. However, it achieves 33% friction reduction on rougher iron surfaces and 23% wear reduction on aluminum.

A multi-object tracking algorithm for cleaning vessels to track floating debris based on YOLOv5-Byte
ObjectiveAiming at the problems of easy switching of tracking ID (identity) and low accuracy caused by complex scenes, including platform shaking and small object due to long distance during autonomous collection of surface floating debris by cleaning ...

Spiders (Araneae) of stony debris in North Bohemia [PDF]
The arachnofauna was studied at five stony debris sites in northern Bohemia. In Central Europe, the northern and montane species inhabiting cold places live not only on mountain tops and peat bogs but also on the lower edges of boulder debris, where air ...
