Modelling climate sensitivity of debris-covered glaciers
The common occurrence of debris-covered glaciers in high-mountain areas makes their response to climate change relevant. The insulating effect of debris cover on surface melt causes debris-covered glaciers behave differently from debris-free glaciers, warranting the use of a specialized model for predictions.

Volume-area scaling for debris-covered glaciers [PDF]
AbstractA volume-area scaling relation is commonly used to estimate glacier volume or its future changes on a global scale. The presence of an insulating supraglacial debris cover alters the mass-balance profile of a glacier, potentially modifying the scaling relation.

The repair and regeneration of brain tissue faces both biological and technical challenges. Injectable bioscaffolds offer new opportunities to stimulate tissue regrowth in the brain by recruiting neural stem cells. Here, the translational issues are reviewed that need to be address to advance this promising new therapeutic approach from the bench to ...

Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

Assessing glacier retreat and landform production at the ‘debris-charged’ snout of Kvíárjökull, Iceland [PDF]
Iceland is a critical location for the study of glacier fluctuations and landform production in response to climate change due to its diverse glacial legacy and its archive of aerial photographs that provide accurately dated records of glacier retreat ...

A high-resolution technique for non-target analysis of chemical substances in marine plastic debris
Large amounts of plastics produced worldwide accumulate in the ocean as marine litter every year. Plastics can absorb chemicals from its surrounding environment due to their hydrophobic properties.

A rationale for effective post-fire debris flow mitigation within forested terrain
Watersheds recently burned by wildfires are recognized as having an increased susceptibility to debris flow occurrence. The great majority occur within the first 2 years following wildfires.

This study presents a bioengineered assembloid (ASM) system combining glioblastoma (GBM) cells in oxidized alginate (OA) microgels with dorsal organoids (DOs). This model simulates brain tumor‐host interactions, revealing enhanced GBM invasion, altered gene expression, and aggressive infiltration patterns, demonstrating ASM as a valuable platform for ...
