Chloroplast Stress Signals Orchestrate Epidermis‐Specific Remodeling of Mitochondria and ER Under High Light

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High light exposure triggers an epidermis‐specific remodeling of mitochondria and ER in Arabidopsis, driven by chloroplast‐derived signals. Live‐cell imaging shows that HL rapidly suppresses mitochondrial motility, followed by fusion‐driven elongation and ER cisternal expansion.

StreamGen: Connecting Populations of Streams and Shells to Their Host Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
In this work, we study how the abundance and dynamics of populations of disrupting satellite galaxies change systematically as a function of host galaxy properties.

Subaru/SCExAO First-light Direct Imaging of a Young Debris Disk around HD 36546 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present H-band scattered light imaging of a bright debris disk around the A0 star HD 36546 obtained from the Subaru Coronagraphic Extreme Adaptive Optics (SCExAO) system with data recorded by the HiCIAO camera using the vector vortex coronagraph ...

Mechanical Overloading‐Induced Nanomineral Crystal Perturbation from the Osteochondral Interface: A Potential Initiator of Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laser‐induced graphene (LIG) provides a scalable, laser‐direct‐written route to porous graphene architecture with tunable chemistry and defect density. Through heterojunction engineering, catalytic functionalization, and intrinsic self‐heating, LIG achieves highly sensitive and selective detection of NOX, NH3, H2, and humidity, supporting next ...

HD 106906: A Case Study for External Perturbations of a Debris Disk [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Models of debris disk morphology are often focused on the effects of a planet orbiting interior to or within the disk. Nonetheless, an exterior planetary-mass perturber can also excite eccentricities in a debris disk, via Laplace–Lagrange secular ...

Alphaviral Capsid Proteins Inhibit Stress Granule Assembly via Competitive RNA Binding With G3BP1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stress granules exert antiviral functions. This study illustrates a conserved function of alphaviral capsid proteins in modulating stress granules. Oligomerization mediated by a helical motif coupled with a positively charged intrinsically disordered region (IDR) directly competes with G3BP1 for RNA binding, thereby disrupting G3BP1‐RNA liquid–liquid ...

Identifying and Characterizing Infrared Excesses in the Spitzer Kepler Survey (SpiKeS)

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report our search for infrared excesses in the Spitzer/Infrared Array Camera survey of the Kepler field at 3.6 and 4.5 μ m. The Spitzer Kepler Survey contains ∼190,000 targets, which we reduce to ∼117,000 targets after applying multiple filters to ...

Dynamical Evolution of the Debris Disk after a Satellite Catastrophic Disruption around Saturn [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The hypothesis of the recent origin of Saturn’s rings and its midsized moons is actively debated. It was suggested that a proto-Rhea and a proto-Dione might have collided recently, giving birth to the modern system of midsized moons.

The Dynamic Energy Band Model of Contact‐Separation and Sliding Mode Triboelectric Charging of Polymers at the Metal‐Polymer Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Triboelectric charge generation at polymer‐metal interfaces arises from the interplay of intra‐ and inter transformation reactions of mechanochemically generated species, physical properties of polymers, environmental conditions. The direction and the magnitude of electron transfer between metal and polymer are dynamically governed by the relative ...
