Vertical Structure of Gas and Dust in Four Debris Disks

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present high-spectral-resolution M -band spectra from iSHELL on NASA’s Infrared Telescope Facility along the line of sight to the debris disk host star HD 32297. We also present a Gemini Planet Imager H -band polarimetric image of the HD 131488 debris

A Robust Multistep Digestion Method for Microplastics Detection in Human Tissue by MicroRaman Analysis

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
A unified digestion protocol for human biological samples has been developed for microplastics analysis by microRaman Spectroscopy. ABSTRACT The presence of microplastics (MPs) in human tissues has raised growing concerns, necessitating robust protocols for their reliable extraction and analysis.

Frictional and Particle Emission Behavior of Different Brake Disk Concepts Correlated with Optical Pin Surface Characterization

open access: yesAtmosphere
Brake wear emissions can be reduced by altering the surface of brake disks. A parametric study using a gray cast iron and a laser-cladded brake disk was performed in a pin-on-disk experiment with integrated optical pin surface characterization and ...

Investigation on hard‐rock breaking performance and auxiliary mechanism of picks assisted with both‐sided high‐pressure water jets

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This paper investigates the high‐pressure water jet‐pick combined rock‐breaking mode (HPC), which employs high‐pressure water jets to precut grooves on both sides of the picks. The rock‐breaking patterns and performance of the HPC method are obtained, and the auxiliary rock‐breaking mechanism of water jet grooving is revealed.

Secret of Longevity: Protoplanetary Disks as a Source of Gas in Debris Disks

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
While protoplanetary disks (PPDs) are generally thought to disperse within several million years, recent observations have revealed gas in their older counterparts, debris disks.

Multimodal approach to characterize surgically removed epileptogenic zone from patients with focal drug‐resistant epilepsy: From operating room to wet lab

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective We have established a comprehensive sample handling protocol designed for the multiscale assessment of epileptogenic tissue. This protocol aims to identify novel therapeutic targets and enhance the diagnosis and stratification of patients with drug‐resistant epilepsy, thereby optimizing their treatment with anti‐seizure medications ...

Biofilm removal capacity and titanium surface integrity in non‐abrasive versus abrasive peri‐implantitis cleaning interventions

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Current peri‐implantitis treatment methods are modeled after dental cleaning modalities like abrasive surface cleaning. However, mechanical abrasive cleaning not only inadequately removes implant biofilms but also compromises implant surface integrity with adverse biological effects.
