Does decentralisation bring the people back to the government? An empirical analysis of the effect of decentralisation on political trust [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This study offers an empirical test of the effect of decentralisation on political trust. A comparative analysis of citizens in 47 countries suggests indirect and heterogeneous consequences of decentralisation.

Polyoxometalate as Hydrogen–Electron Hub in Metal–Organic Complex for Electrocatalytic Nitrate Reduction to Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To tackle low electrocatalytic nitrate reduction to ammonia efficiency in neutral media, this work designs chain‐like dinuclear/trinuclear polyoxometalate‐based metal‐organic complexes. Metal clusters provide nitrate adsorption/activation sites, while polyoxometalates (POMs) drive water dissociation to generate active hydrogen (*H) that migrates to ...

Bridging Green Chemistry and Circular Economy: A Pathway to Sustainable Polyester Plastics Through Feedstock, Synthesis, and Waste Upcycling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review summarizes green and low‐carbon strategies throughout the entire life cycle of polyester plastics, including sustainable monomer synthesis, optimization polymerization, efficient recycling, and advanced upcycling technologies. The synergistic implementation of these strategies is expected to significantly promote the development of a ...

Is Decentralisation in Ghana pro-poor?

open access: yesCommonwealth Journal of Local Governance, 2010
There is a popular belief among decentralists that if local governments have the power to generate and spend revenue, without relying on central government funding, their expenditure will be pro-poor and will improve the lives of local people. Such views

On Secure Workflow Decentralisation on the Internet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Decentralised workflow management systems are a new research area, where most work to-date has focused on the system's overall architecture. As little attention has been given to the security aspects in such systems, we follow a security driven approach,

Photon‐to‐Heat Energy Harvesting Fluorescent Protein Coatings for Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fluorescent proteins (FPs) are used in light‐absorbing coatings on thermoelectric generators (TEGs) to convert light into heat and generate electricity. By tuning the properties of FP‐doped polymer matrices, photothermal efficiencies of up to 48% have been achieved.
