Implication : a survey of the different logical analyses of if..., then... [PDF]
This paper' discusses different forms of implication as they are used in logic, mathematics. linguislics aod artificial intelligence. The most commonly used form is that of material implication. It has turned out. however, .

Using co-operative evaluation to explore travel and tourism decision making.
This paper reports on the use of ‘co-operative evaluation’ to investigate tourists' decision making behaviours when using Internet resources. Co-operative evaluation is a qualitative ‘think-aloud’ technique used to investigate usability problems in ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Dynamic utilisation of knowledge in decision making [PDF]
The contribution of this research is a set of novel insights on the interplay of knowledge assets during decision making. Knowledge is conceptualised as a dynamic resource.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The development and testing of an emotion-enabled, structured decision-making procedure
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. Two contrasting forms of advice for decision-makers are to either follow one’s heart (emotions) or one’s head (reason). This is a false dichotomy – but how

Extraction and implication of path constraints
. We consider semistructured data as rooted edge-labeled directed graphs, and path inclusion constraints on these graphs. In this paper, we show that we can extract from a finite datum D a finite set Cf(D) of word inclusions, which implies exactly every ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
