Attitudes of patients with cutaneous melanoma toward prognostic testing using the 31‐gene expression profile test

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2023
Objective Although most patients diagnosed with early‐stage cutaneous melanoma (CM) have excellent outcomes, because of the large number diagnosed each year, many will experience recurrence or death. Prognostic testing for CM using the 31‐gene expression

Difference Game of Closed-Loop Supply Chain of Innovative Products with Discrete-Time Conditions

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
This paper aims to explore the impact of the purchase regret of consumers on dynamic closed-loop supply chains (CLSCs) under discrete-time conditions. Durable products are mostly traded under discrete-time conditions, and consumers tend to have different

Conformal Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces: A Cylindrical Geometry Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Cylindrical reconfigurable intelligent surfaces are explored for low‐complexity beam steering using one‐bit meta‐atoms. A multi‐level modeling approach, including optimization‐based synthesis, demonstrates that even minimal hardware can support directive scattering.

Thinking Styles and Regret in Physicians. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Decision-making relies on both analytical and emotional thinking. Cognitive reasoning styles (e.g. maximizing and satisficing tendencies) heavily influence analytical processes, while affective processes are often dependent on regret.

Avoiding Future Regret in Purchase-Timing Decisions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Consumer Research, 2001
When deciding when to make a purchase, people often compare their outcomes to those that would have occurred had they purchased earlier or later. In this article, we examine how pre- and postpurchase comparisons affect regret and satisfaction, and whether consumers learn to avoid decisions that result in regret.

No regrets

open access: yesProceedings of the 11th conference on Theoretical aspects of rationality and knowledge - TARK '07, 2007
I argue that standard decision theories, namely causal decision theory and evidential decision theory, both are unsatisfactory. I devise a new decision theory, from which, under certain conditions, standard game theory can be derived.

Dynamic Regret of Online Markov Decision Processes

open access: yesCoRR, 2022
We investigate online Markov Decision Processes (MDPs) with adversarially changing loss functions and known transitions. We choose dynamic regret as the performance measure, defined as the performance difference between the learner and any sequence of feasible changing policies.

Regret as Autobiographical Memory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
An autobiographical memory framework for the study of regret is contrasted with traditional decision-making approaches to regret. Based on the autobiographical memory framework a memory-based distinction is introduced between regrets for specific and ...

Negotiating contested spaces and places: Narratives of social suffering and resistance in racialized Cape Town communities

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract This study employs a schizocartographic approach to explore community narratives of space, memory, and violence in Kraaifontein, Cape Town. Through participants' accounts, ordinary places—gardens, shops, blocks, sports grounds, and streets—emerge as ambivalent geographies where trauma, resilience, and belonging intersect.
