Combining forward and backward search in decoding

2013 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2013
We introduce a speed-up for weighted finite state transducer (WFST) based decoders, which is based on the idea that one decoding pass using a wider beam can be replaced by two decoding passes with smaller beams, decoding forward and backward in time. We apply this in a decoder that works with a variable beam width, which is widened in areas where the ...

Bounding of MAP decode and forward relaying

2010 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2010
We formulate the maximum a posteriori (MAP) rule for the decode-and-forward transmission strategy operating with a noisy relay. From the MAP rule we derive an analytical bound on the error probability, taking into account decoding errors at the relay.

Decode‐and‐forward with full‐duplex relaying

International Journal of Communication Systems, 2011
SUMMARYThis paper addresses the full‐duplex relaying. Some expressions for outage and average capacity of a two‐hop cooperative system with a full‐duplex relay are derived under an independent but not identically distributed Rayleigh fading environment. Using these expressions, we provide the performance analysis without Monte Carlo simulations.

Dynamic Decode and Forward with Network Coding

2012 IEEE 75th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2012
This paper is divided into two parts. In the first part, we analyze outage probability of dynamic decode and forward (DDF) with network coding (NC) and compare outage probability with using NC and without using NC. In the second part, we use MATLAB programming language to simulate our system model.

Dynamic Selective Decode and Forward in wireless relay networks

2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT), 2015
In this paper, we propose a practical code design for a new relaying protocol, coined Dynamic Selective Decode-and-Forward (D-SDF), in half-duplex slow fading Multiple Access Multiple Relay Channel (MAMRC), defined as follows: (1) Multiple statistically independent sources communicate with a single destination with the help of multiple half-duplex ...

null implementation aspects of decode and forward and compress and forward relay protocols

2018
In this work, the common relay protocols Decode-and-Forward and Compress-and-Forward (CF) are investigated from a practical point of view: This involves on the one hand the impact of imperfections like channel and carrier phase stimation errors and on the other hand, the question of how to implement relay protocol specific signal processing like ...

Enhanced MRC for Decode-and-Forward Cooperative Diversity Systems

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2012
In this letter, we propose a novel enhanced maximal-ratio combining (E-MRC) scheme for multi-branch decode-and-forward (DF) cooperative diversity systems consisting of a source, a destination, and multiple relays. This scheme employs adjustable parameters at the relays and the destination which enable this scheme to appropriately adapt to variations in

Decode‐and‐forward with partial relay selection

International Journal of Communication Systems, 2010
AbstractExact expressions for outage probability and symbol error rate are presented for a decode‐and‐forward cooperative network with partial relay selection. An independent but not identically distributed Nakagami‐m fading environment is considered. Numerical and simulated results show the validity of the analytical results.

Bilayer LDPC Convolutional Codes for Decode-and-Forward Relaying

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2013
In this paper we present bilayer LDPC convolutional codes for half-duplex relay channels. Two types of codes, bilayer expurgated LDPC convolutional codes and bilayer lengthened LDPC convolutional codes, are proposed for decode-and-forward (DF) relaying.

Soft decode and forward improves cooperative communications

6th IEE International Conference on 3G and Beyond (05/11182), 2005
Mobile receivers can benefit from an increased spatial diversity through cooperation. Two relaying techniques are typically used: either amplify and forward (AF) or decode and forward (DF). This contribution presents a new technique, which combines the main advantages of both AF and DF.
