Multivariate pattern analysis (MVPA) has become an increasingly popular approach to fMRI research because these methods offer the attractive possibility of "decoding" the content of brain representations. One weakness of MVPA is that the source of decodable information is not always apparent, as evidenced by the ongoing debate about orientation ...

Near-capacity iterative decoding of binary self-concatenated codes using soft decision demapping and 3-D EXIT charts [PDF]
In this paper 3-D Extrinsic Information Transfer (EXIT) charts are used to design binary Self-Concatenated Convolutional Codes employing Iterative Decoding (SECCC-ID), exchanging extrinsic information with the soft-decision demapper to approach the ...

Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

A discrete time Markov chain model for high throughput bidirectional Fano decoders [PDF]
The bidirectional Fano algorithm (BFA) can achieve at least two times decoding throughput compared to the conventional unidirectional Fano algorithm (UFA). In this paper, bidirectional Fano decoding is examined from the queuing theory perspective.

Decoding human fetal liver haematopoiesis
Definitive haematopoiesis in the fetal liver supports self-renewal and differentiation of haematopoietic stem cells and multipotent progenitors (HSC/MPPs) but remains poorly defined in humans.

Assessing the Relevance of Specific Response Features in the Neural Code
The study of the neural code aims at deciphering how the nervous system maps external stimuli into neural activity—the encoding phase—and subsequently transforms such activity into adequate responses to the original stimuli—the decoding
