Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Decoding Inner Speech Using Electrocorticography: Progress and Challenges Toward a Speech Prosthesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2018
Certain brain disorders resulting from brainstem infarcts, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, stroke, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, limit verbal communication despite the patient being fully aware.

Ultra high definition video decoding with motion JPEG XR using the GPU [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Many applications require real-time decoding of highresolution video pictures, for example, quick editing of video sequences in video editing applications.

Smaller Decoding Exponents: Ball-Collision Decoding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Very few public-key cryptosystems are known that can encrypt and decrypt in time $ b^{ 2¿+¿o(1) } $with conjectured security level $2^b$ against conventional computers and quantum computers. The oldest of these systems is the classic McEliece code-based cryptosystem.

Statistical Decoding 2.0: Reducing Decoding to LPN

open access: yes, 2022
The security of code-based cryptography relies primarily on the hardness of generic decoding with linear codes. The best generic decoding algorithms are all improvements of an old algorithm due to Prange: they are known under the name of information set decoders (ISD).

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Reduced Complexity Belief Propagation Decoders for Polar Codes

open access: yes, 2015
Polar codes are newly discovered capacity-achieving codes, which have attracted lots of research efforts. Polar codes can be efficiently decoded by the low-complexity successive cancelation (SC) algorithm and the SC list (SCL) decoding algorithm.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Rat anterior cingulate cortex recalls features of remote reward locations after disfavoured reinforcements

open access: yeseLife, 2018
The anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) encodes information supporting mnemonic and cognitive processes. We show here that a rat’s position can be decoded with high spatiotemporal resolution from ACC activity.

Order Statistics Based List Decoding Techniques for Linear Binary Block Codes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The order statistics based list decoding techniques for linear binary block codes of small to medium block length are investigated. The construction of the list of the test error patterns is considered.
