Bechterew Decompensation

A right labyrinthectomy was performed in rats 5 months after a left labyrinthectomy. Spontaneous compensation of balance functions after both operations was assessed by observing nystagmus, rolling about the longitudinal axis, circular walking and head tilt.

Phenothiazine-Induced Decompensation

Adverse mental reactions to phenothiazines have been anecdotally reported. In a systematic study 80 patients with the diagnosis of schizophrenia received phenothiazines in conventional dosages. Nine patients experienced dramatic exacerbations of psychosis on phenothiazines with a piperazine side group—particularly fluphenazine enanthate.

Late Decompensation of Neobladder

We report on 6 patients in whom we constructed detubularized ileocolonic neobladders in conjunction with cystectomy to treat invasive transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. Abstract: The problem of hypokalemia in cardiac decompensation is reviewed. Some methodological sources of error in connection with blood sampling is discussed, as is the definition of hypokalemia. “Hypokalemia” may be present with a serum potassium value within the reference range of 3.5–5.0 mmol/l.
