The Prevalence and Risk Factors for at‐Risk MASH and Advanced Liver Fibrosis in People With Metabolic Risk Factors in Primary Care

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
This cross‐sectional study of 84 general practices found 24.3% had At‐Risk MASH defined by FNI > 0.30, and 4.3% had advanced fibrosis defined by FIB‐4 > 2.67. Diabetes and socio‐economic disadvantage were strong predictors of significant liver disease.

From a novel pathogenic SAMD9L variant to cohort‐wide insights: Whole‐genome sequencing highlights somatic genetic rescue and phenotypic heterogeneity

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Germline gain‐of‐function variants in sterile alpha motif domain–containing 9‐like (SAMD9L), located on chromosome 7q, cause a multisystem disorder characterized by bone marrow failure, immunodeficiency and variable neurological involvement. Disease evolution is frequently shaped by somatic genetic rescue (SGR), most commonly through monosomy 7,

Cardiotoxicity of BRAF/MEK inhibitors

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Rapidly accelerated fibrosarcoma type B/B‐Raf proto‐oncogene, serine/threonine kinase (BRAF) and mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MEK) inhibitors have transformed outcomes in cancer therapy, particularly in melanoma. However, cardiovascular toxicities are increasingly recognized in real‐world clinical practice.

Ray‐Tracing‐Based Intraocular Lens Power Calculation in Combined Cataract Surgery and Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To compare the predictive accuracy of ray tracing‐based intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation formulas with the Barrett Universal II (BUII) formula in eyes with Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) undergoing combined cataract surgery and Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (triple DMEK).
