Large T‐cell extradural lymphoma with concurrent marked cerebrospinal fluid eosinophilia in a dog

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, 2023
A 3‐year‐old male pit bull terrier was presented for a 4‐day history of progressive tetraparesis and cervical pain. Magnetic resonance imaging confirmed an extradural mass within the left lateral vertebral canal extending from caudal C5 to mid‐T2. Lumbar

Pressure‐Induced Metallization and Isostructural Transitions in 3R‐MoS2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pressure‐induced isostructural transitions without symmetry breaking are reported in 3R‐MoS2. Concurrently, a semiconductor‐to‐metal transition is observed, owing to strong interlayer interaction and charge redistribution across the van der Waals gap under pressure.

Minimally Invasive, Bioadaptive Multimodal Sensor Probe with Safe Deployment for Real‐Time Acute Compartment Syndrome Diagnosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A soft, minimally invasive multimodal sensor probe integrates intracompartmental pressure, tissue oxygen saturation, and blood flow sensors into a single platform. By enabling precise measurements and capturing correlations among pressure, oxygenation, and vascular dynamics, the system provides a comprehensive physiological assessment, thereby ...

The decompression of the outer neutron star crust and r-process nucleosynthesis

open access: yes, 2011
The rapid neutron-capture process, or r-process, is known to be fundamental for explaining the origin of approximately half of the A>60 stable nuclei observed in nature. In recent years nuclear astrophysicists have developed more and more sophisticated r-

Thermal and Dimensional Stability of Photocatalytic Material ZnPS3 Under Extreme Environmental Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This work shows that ZnPS3 exhibits remarkable stability under extreme conditions. It undergoes a reversible pressure‐induced phase transition with the onset at 12.5 GPa, followed by a semiconductor‐to‐semimetal transition at 100 GPa. PL, Raman, and X‐ray spectroscopies as well as first‐principles modeling reveal defect‐assisted emission, a large ...

E‐CAD: Electroactive Polymer‐Based Cardiac Assist Device with Low Power Consumption

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Conventional cardiac assist devices often require high power, involve direct blood contact, and risk driveline infections. This work presents a soft electroactive polymer‐based system that compresses the heart externally while consuming <0.3 W. With no blood contact, a 0.3 mm driveline, and a compact design, E‐CAD demonstrates enhanced output and ...

Polyamorphism of ice at low temperatures from constant-pressure simulations

open access: yes, 2004
We report results of MD simulations of amorphous ice in the pressure range 0 - 22.5 kbar. The high-density amorphous ice (HDA) prepared by compression of Ih ice at T = 80 K is annealed to T = 170 K at intermediate pressures in order to generate relaxed ...

Treatment of the Fractional Curve of Adult Scoliosis With Circumferential Minimally Invasive Surgery Versus Traditional, Open Surgery: An Analysis of Surgical Outcomes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Study Design:Retrospective, multicenter review of adult scoliosis patients with minimum 2-year follow-up. Objective:Because the fractional curve (FC) of adult scoliosis can cause radiculopathy, we evaluated patients treated with either circumferential ...

The “Best of Both Worlds”: Building a community‐academic partnership for research with legal system‐impacted individuals

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Equitable community‐academic research partnerships provide an innovative way to advance health outcomes among criminal legal system‐impacted individuals. The extant literature lacks accounts that detail the process for developing such partnerships, particularly in community‐based (rather than carceral) settings and with community organizations
