Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Adaptive Control of Flapping-Wing Micro Aerial Vehicle with Coupled Dynamics and Unknown Model Parameters

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
With the complex aerodynamics, the accurate system model of the flapping-wing micro aerial vehicle required for precise control is hard to acquire, meanwhile, due to the unique control strategy, the coupling between the actuators also brings a great ...

Evaluation of in vitro toxicity of common phytochemicals included in weight loss supplements using 1H NMR spectroscopy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the toxicity of 12 active compounds commonly found in herbal weight loss supplements (WLS) using human liver and colon cell models. Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate was the only compound showing significant toxicity. Metabolic profiling revealed protein degradation, disrupted energy and lipid metabolism suggesting that the inclusion of EGCG ...

Sensor-Reduced Active Power Decoupling Method for Single-Phase Rectifiers

open access: yesEnergies
Active power decoupling (APD) technology demonstrates significant advantages in addressing the mismatched second-order ripple power issue in single-phase rectifiers. However, conventional methods typically require additional voltage or current sensors to

Structure–Function Decoupling of the Sensorimotor and Default Mode Networks in Black Americans With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...

Adaptive Decoupling Control of MIMO System

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1988
AbstractThis paper describes a new adaptive controller for MIMO systems. The resulting closed‐loop system will be stable and decoupled. The system to be controlled can be linear, non‐minimum phase and/or unstable. The interactor matrix need not be known beforehand.

Influence of an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere on Diamond‐Single‐Grain Scratching of Ti–6Al–4V

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐grain scratching of Ti–6Al–4V is investigated under controlled, oxygen‐free, and ambient atmospheres using a novel experimental setup with in situ high‐speed imaging. The approach enables direct observation of chip formation and adhesion under suppressed oxidation.
