Extensions of Toric Varieties [PDF]
In this paper, we introduce the notion of "extension" of a toric variety and study its fundamental properties. This gives rise to infinitely many toric varieties with a special property, such as being set theoretic complete intersection or arithmetically

Valley dependent many-body effects in 2D semiconductors
We calculate the valley degeneracy ($g_v$) dependence of the many-body renormalization of quasiparticle properties in multivalley 2D semiconductor structures due to the Coulomb interaction between the carriers. Quite unexpectedly, the $g_v$ dependence of

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Spherical Steiner Symmetrizations
In this paper, we primarily investigate and establish several properties of spherical Steiner symmetrizations, along with the isoperimetric property of the spherical cap in Sn.

Analytical results for the distribution of shortest path lengths in random networks
We present two complementary analytical approaches for calculating the distribution of shortest path lengths in Erdos-R\'enyi networks, based on recursion equations for the shells around a reference node and for the paths originating from it. The results

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Coarse geometry of the fire retaining property and group splittings
Given a non-decreasing function $f \colon \mathbb{N} \to \mathbb{N}$ we define a single player game on (infinite) connected graphs that we call fire retaining.

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Liouville property, Wiener's test and unavoidable sets for Hunt processes
Let $(X,\mathcal W)$ be a balayage space, $1\in \mathcal W$, or - equivalently - let $\mathcal W$ be the set of excessive functions of a Hunt process on a locally compact space $X$ with countable base such that $\mathcal W$ separates points, every ...
