Some properties of flare-not-associated Forbush decreases

Il Nuovo Cimento C, 1984
All the flare-not-associated Forbush decreases (NAFDs) are investigated over the period 1975–1979. The connection between the NAFDs occurrence and the central meridian passage of strong active regions producing great flare-associated FDs confirms the flare origin of the NAFDs.

Variation Reducing Properties of Decreasing Rearrangements

Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1975
One well-established characteristic of the operation of decreasing rearrangement is its variation reducing property. A systematic study of this property has been made in considerable detail by G.F.D. Duff in [5] and [6]. He proved some inequalities related to the operation of rearrangement in decreasing order showing that the total variation of a ...

Coating Graphene Oxide with Lipid Bilayers Greatly Decreases Its Hemolytic Properties

Langmuir, 2017
Toxicity evaluation for the proper use of graphene oxide (GO) in biomedical applications involving intravenous injections is crucial, but the GO circulation time and blood interactions are largely unknown. It is thought that GO may cause physical disruption (hemolysis) of red blood cells.

Binding of Denatured Protein Decreases the Chaperone Properties of α Crystallin

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1994
Previous studies have demonstrated that partially denatured forms of the beta and gamma crystallins preferentially bind to a central region of the alpha crystallin particle, both in vitro and in vivo. These experiments were designed to ascertain if binding of a partially denatured protein to alpha crystallin could result in a diminished ability of ...

Decreasing Percentile Residual Life: Properties and Estimation

2013
In this work we describe the class of distribution functions with decreasing α-percentile residual life [DPRL(α)], 0 < α < 1. The close relationship between the aging notion DPRL(α) and increasing failure rate (IFR) will be discussed, as well as the relationship between the DPRL(α) and the percentile residual life orders.

Decreased Molecular Chaperone Property of α-Crystallins Due to Posttranslational Modifications

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1995
We studied the effect of oxidation, mixed disulfide formation and glycation of alpha-crystallins on their molecular chaperone property. The ability of alpha-crystallins to protect heat-induced denaturation and aggregation of beta L-crystallin was significantly diminished by these modifications.

Achilles tendon elastic properties remain decreased in long term after rupture

Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, 2017
Rupture of the Achilles tendon results in inferior scar tissue formation. Elastography allows a feasible in vivo investigation of biomechanical properties of the Achilles tendon. The purpose of this study is to investigate the biomechanical properties of healed Achilles tendons in the long term.Patients who suffered from Achilles tendon rupture were ...

Effects of decreasing carbohydrate content on properties of wood strands

Cellulose, 2011
Hot-water pretreatment was performed on wood strands to investigate effects of the extraction of hemicellulose under different temperature (140, 155, and 170 °C) and time durations (30 and 60 min) conditions. Hydrolysate was analyzed by means of high-performance liquid chromatography.

[Decreased anaphylactogenic properties of disaggregated gamma-globulin].

Biulleten' eksperimental'noi biologii i meditsiny, 1978
Immunological properties of native, aggregated, and disaggregated (tolerogenic) human gamma-globulin were compared in experiments on mice and guinea pigs. Disaggregated preparation was shown to give diminished local and general hypersensitivity reaction in sensitized animals and had decreased ability to induce secondary humoral immune response.

On curvature decreasing property of a class of navigation problems

Publicationes Mathematicae Debrecen, 2007
A useful approach in discussing a Finsler manifold \((M,F)\) is a technique called navigation problem: given the metric \(F\) and a vector field \(V\) with \(F(x,V_x)
