Deductive Database Security [PDF]
An approach is described for protecting the information in deductive databases from unauthorized retrieval and update requests. The approach we propose combines meta-programming and partial evaluation techniques, has a number of attractive technical ...

Solvent‐mediated reactivity control of Lewis‐paired dopants enables highly efficient, finely tunable, and stable doping of organic semiconductors. The optimally doped semiconductor films exhibit superior thermoelectric performance and doping stability, feature delocalized polarons along structurally ordered polymer backbones, and outperform ...

Deductive Verification of Telecommunication Systems Written in C
A deductive approach to verification of telecommunication systems written in C is proposed. The approach is based on the extension of C by declarative statements and on reduction of verification of parallel communicating components of these systems to ...

Associating a red‐NIR phosphorescent octahedral hexanuclear molybdenum cluster compound with hexaethyleneoxide chains bearing mesogenic units on both ends leads to an emissive hybrid liquid crystal showing mesomorphism on a very unusual temperature range down to −25°C.

The energetic offset between the donor and the acceptor components in organic photoactive layers is central to the tradeoff between photovoltage and photocurrent losses. This Perspective covers the most important issues surrounding this topic in non‐fullerene acceptor blends, from the difficulty of accurately determining state energies and driving ...

Verification of the TESLA protocol in MCMAS-X
We present MCMAS-X, an extension of the OBDD-based model checker MCMAS for multi-agent systems, to explicit and deductive knowledge.

Perspectives in deductive databases
I discuss my experiences, some of the work that I have done, and related work that influenced me, concerning deductive databases, over the last 30 years. I divide this time period into three roughly equal parts: 1957–1968, 1969–1978, 1979–present.

Anion‐exchange doping of conjugated polymers is an effective way to achieve high conductivities. Here, we report over 2000 S cm−1 electrical conductivity for doped P(g3BTTT). In addition, we show that P(g3BTTT) sustains exceptionally high doping levels without any drop in the charge mobility.

Measuring the Hall Effect in Hysteretic Materials
The authors highlight common pitfalls in measuring the Hall effect: in hysteretic magnets, improper data processing can create signals that look exotic but are not real. This Perspective explains the origin of these artifacts and presents practical measurement strategies that help researchers identify reliable Hall responses in complex magnetic ...

Deductive Theories and Non-deductive Knowledge
I start by briefly considering three different epistemological conceptions associated with deductive theories. I then relate the conceptions to the debate about whether non-deductive knowledge of mathematical claims is possible. The hope is that getting clearer about the different types of deductive science sheds light on whether a mathematical ...
