Experimental results and limit load analysis by the strut-and-tie method (STM) in deep beams with notches and openings [PDF]
This article presents experimental results of eight non-aligned, non-geometrically symmetrical deep beams with notches and openings. The variables considered in the study were the presence of web reinforcement, and the geometry of the deep beams.

Fatigue Crack Initiation and Growth in Nanocrystalline Ni at Multiple Length‐Scales
Overview of miniaturized in situ SEM fatigue setup and resultant fatigue crack growth data for nanocrystalline Ni. The presented study focuses on the analysis of fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) in focused ion beam‐notched microcantilevers prepared from nanocrystalline (NC) Ni as a model material.

Influence of Shear Reinforcement on Reinforced Concrete Continuous Deep Beams
YesTest results of 24 reinforced concrete continuous deep beams are reported. The main variables studied were concrete strength, shear span-to-overall depth ratio (a/h) and the amount and configuration of shear reinforcement.

The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Measurement of the neutral current reaction at high Q2 in the H1 experiment at HERA II [PDF]
This thesis presents inclusive ep double and single differential cross section measurements for neutral current deep inelastic scattering of longitudinally polarized leptons on protons as a function of the negative four-momentum transfer squared Q2 and ...

Fire behaviour of deep beams under unsymmetrical loading
This paper focuses on the condition where a reinforced concrete (RC) deep beam is subjected to two concentrated loads (P1 and P2), which are positioned at respective distances a and c from bottom supports.

Load capacity predictions of continuous concrete deep beams reinforced with GFRP bars
Nine continuous concrete deep beams reinforced with glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars were experimentally tested to failure. Three main parameters were investigated, namely, shear span-to-overall depth ratio, web reinforcement and size effect ...
