This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Numerical study on shear strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) deep beams with and without stirrups using near-surface mounted FRP bars [PDF]
Near surface mounted (NSM) technique is an emerging technique for increasing the strength of reinforced concrete (RC) members. It is applied to strengthen or repair RC members.

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

Experimental results and limit load analysis by the strut-and-tie method (STM) in deep beams with notches and openings [PDF]
This article presents experimental results of eight non-aligned, non-geometrically symmetrical deep beams with notches and openings. The variables considered in the study were the presence of web reinforcement, and the geometry of the deep beams.

Hybrid Composite Plates (HCP) for shear strengthening of RC beams [PDF]
The potential of a hybrid composite plate (HCP) for the strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) deep beams is evaluated. HCP are composed of a CFRP sheet that is glued to the external surface of a thin plate made of strain hardening cementitious ...
