Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

PANoptosis in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes
PANoptosis, a combination of three types of programmed cell death, is mediated by a large protein complex called a PANoptosome. In healthy bone marrow hematopoietic cells, PANoptosis is restricted by inhibitory signaling. In MDS, bone marrow cells become sensitive to the PANoptotic stimuli due to the aberrant inactivation of inhibitory signaling or ...

Spatial biology in cancer epigenetics
Spatial epigenomics combines molecular profiling with tissue architecture to reveal how gene regulation is organized within intact tissues. In cancer, these technologies uncover the mechanisms driving tumor heterogeneity and microenvironmental interactions, opening new opportunities for biomarker discovery and precision medicine.

The cell‐autonomous roles of interferon type 1 vary based on duration and intensity. While acute, robust signaling results in cancer cell cytotoxic effects, sustained, low‐level signaling is associated with tumor‐promoting effects. This review summarizes current research of IFN‐1 in cancer and within the clinical setting, with an emphasis on female ...

Deep features for automatic spoofing detection
Speech Communication, 2016Recently biometric authentication has made progress in areas, such as speaker verification. However, some evidence shows that the technology is susceptible to malicious spoofing attacks, and thus dedicated countermeasures are needed to detect a variety of specific attack types.

Deep neural network as deep feature learner
Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems, 2020Features play an important role in image processing. But as not all features are comparable, relative features emerged. From the beginning, low-level features, extracted by experts, have been employed to create difficult models for learning the problem of relative attribute.

Iris recognition refers to the automated process of individual recognition based on the patterns in their irises. Due to its uniqueness, it is a common modality used in biometric recognition. With a technique pioneered by Daugman, it was shown that it enables recognition with very low false match rates. However, existing approaches still offer room for

Deep adaptive feature enrichment
Expert Systems with Applications, 2020Abstract Features play an important role in the performance of machine learning and classification applications. Usually, separability of classes by using raw or original features are so low, and it is necessary to use complex classifiers with high computational costs or use enrichment modules to increase distinctiveness of features. In this paper, a
