Study on the Influence of Deep Foundation Pit Excavation on Existing Structures Around

open access: yesDEStech Transactions on Engineering and Technology Research, 2019
For a foundation pit project, due to its large depth, complex surrounding environment and close proximity to subway tunnel, the influence of foundation pit on the surrounding existing structures needs to be considered in excavation. According to the local geological conditions and the characteristics of the foundation pit, this paper designs the ...

Deformation Analysis of Adjacent Metro during Deep Pit Excavation

open access: yes, 2011
At space compacted, pipeline-intensive, buildings and underground structures adjacent places, environmental deformation is sensitive to deep pit excavation, so deformation as well as slope stability is the control factors for safety.

Integrating ZooMS and taphonomy further highlights differential processing of animal and Neandertal carcasses in the Quina Mousterian at Les Pradelles (Marillac‐le‐Franc, southwest France)

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The cave of Les Pradelles (Marillac‐le‐Franc, France) was repeatedly visited by Neandertals ~55 000 years ago and is a key site in discussions of Neandertal cannibalism. Excavations between 1967 and 1980 (Vandermeersch) and between 2001 and 2013 (Maureille/Mann) produced a rich faunal assemblage (>20 000 bones), alongside Quina Mousterian ...

Stability Analysis of Deep and Large Foundation Pit Construction for Urban Rail Transit Station in Soil Rock Composite Stratum in Coastal Area

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
[Objective] Excavation of foundation pit will cause deformation of surrounding strata and buildings , which affects construction progress and even causes engineering accidents in some degree.

Influence of Deep Foundation Pit Excavation on Adjacent Pipelines: A Case Study in Nanjing, China

open access: yes
To investigate the pipeline deformation pattern caused by the excavation of deep foundation pits in composite soil–rock strata, a comprehensive study integrating on-site monitoring and numerical simulation was conducted.

Stable isotope analysis of freshwater gastropod carbonates from Swanscombe: Insights into climate stability and seasonality during MIS 11c

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stable isotope analyses of freshwater mollusc carbonate can record environmental conditions at the time of mineralisation, yet this technique remains underused in British Middle Pleistocene fluvial sequences, despite the abundance of fossil shell material in these deposits.

Numerical Investigation on Deep-Foundation Pit Excavation Supported by Box-Type Retaining Walls

open access: yes
In soft soil foundations, the utilization of box-type retaining walls as a support method represents a novel approach. This study focuses on investigating the key factors influencing lateral wall deflection and ground settlement behind the wall in deep ...

Burrow use by Saharan striped polecat (Poecilictis libyca) in an agricultural area of central Tunisia

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Saharan striped polecats in agricultural landscapes use many burrows (30–35 per season), facilitated by sandy soils. Burrow sharing is rare and mainly occurs between males and females during mating. Habitat use shifts seasonally, reflecting disturbance and soil conditions. Maintaining stable sandy habitats may be critical for persistence.

Recovery of southern mountain caribou habitat following wildfire in Ulkatcho territory, British Columbia, Canada

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Caribou forage lichens were present in post‐burn lodgepole pine stands multiple decades before stem‐density was likely open enough to attract wintering caribou. We posit that the prolonged self‐thinning of lodgepole pine after fire may be a greater limiting factor than lichen abundance for habitat recovery in lodgepole pine forests.
