Swept-frequency UHF radiometer for deep probes of earth - A concept [PDF]
Radiometer, developed for use on moon or planets, could be used to - determine layering and structure as deep as 100 feet below earth surface, determine physical properties of subsurface by variation of dielectric constants, identify types of materials ...

Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Comparison of bacterioneuston and bacterioplankton dynamics during a phytoplankton bloom in a fjord mesocosm [PDF]
The bacterioneuston is the community of Bacteria present in surface microlayers, the thin surface film that forms the interface between aquatic environments and the atmosphere. In this study we compared bacterial cell abundance and bacterial community

A FeN4─O/Clu@NC‐0.1Ac catalyst containing atomically‐dispersed FeN4─O sites (medium‐spin Fe2+) and Fe clusters delivered a half‐wave potential of 0.89 V for ORR and an overpotential of 330 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for OER in 0.1 m KOH. When the catalyst was used in a rechargeable Zn–air battery, a power density of 284.5 mW cm−2 was achieved with excellent ...

A deep-learning-based surrogate model for data assimilation in dynamic subsurface flow problems [PDF]
A deep-learning-based surrogate model is developed and applied for predicting dynamic subsurface flow in channelized geological models. The surrogate model is based on deep convolutional and recurrent neural network architectures, specifically a residual

In situ TEM uncovers the atomic‐scale mechanisms underlying hydrogen‐driven γ‐Fe2O3→Fe3O4→FeO reduction. In γ‐Fe2O3, oxygen vacancies cluster around intrinsic Fe vacancies, leading to nanopore formation, whereas in Fe3O4, vacancy aggregation is suppressed, preserving a dense structure.
