Shaped ultrafast laser pulses in the deep ultraviolet
We use an acousto-optic pulse shaper to directly control the phase and amplitude of femtosecond laser pulses in the deep ultraviolet (~ 260 nm). The efficiency of the pulse shaper is 21% and the output pulse energy is 2.8muJ. We are currently using these pulses in molecular coherent control experiments.

Deep ultraviolet resonant Raman imaging of a cell [PDF]
We report the first demonstration of deep ultraviolet (DUV) Raman imaging of a cell. Nucleotide distributions in a HeLa cell were observed without any labeling at 257 nm excitation with resonant bands attributable to guanine and adenine. Obtained images represent DNA localization at nucleoli in the nucleus and RNA distribution in the cytoplasm.

Fascinating optical properties governed by extremely confined excitons have been so far observed in 2D crystals like monolayers of transition metal dichalcogenides. These materials, however, are limited for production by epitaxial methods.

Design of Double-Lattice Photonic Crystal of DUV Laser by ANN-RBF Neural Network
In this study, a double-lattice photonic crystal structure was designed to achieve deep ultraviolet lasing without the use of any Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR), which is called a photonic-crystal surface-emitting laser (PCSEL).

An Amorphous (Al0.12Ga0.88)2O3 Deep Ultraviolet Photodetector
The authors report the deposition of an (AlxGa1-x)2O3 amorphous thin film on sapphire substrates by sputter deposition. An amorphous deep ultraviolet (UV) (Al0.12Ga0.88)2O3 photodetector, with a cutoff wavelength at 230 nm, was also fabricated.

The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

Ammonia Distribution Measurement on a Hot Gas Test Bench Applying Tomographical Optical Methods
Measuring the distribution of gas concentration is a very common problem in a variety of technological fields. Depending on the detectability of the gas, as well as the technological progress of the sector, different methods are used.

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...
