An interdigitated coupler with defect ground structure

2015 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP), 2015
In this paper, an interdigitated coupler with defect ground structure in the coupling position is presented. Compared to the conventional interdigitated coupler, the proposed coupler loosens restrictions of the coupling-line width and space between coupling lines. As a result, the requirement of fabricating accuracy for the new coupler is lowered.

Silicon integrated defected ground structures

2010 Topical Meeting on Silicon Monolithic Integrated Circuits in RF Systems (SiRF), 2010
In this paper we study the impact of two common defected ground structures fabricated in finite ground coplanar waveguide on silicon and alumina substrates useful for monolithic and hybrid designs. The single defects resonate at 30GHz and have bandwidth differences due to the nature and size of the defect. On-wafer measurements up to 40GHz are included

Stepped-Impedance Defected Ground Structure

TENCON 2005 - 2005 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2005
The negative image of a microstrip stepped-impedance lowpass filter (LPF) or hi-Z, low-Z filter is used on the ground plane to produce wide and deep stopband. This structure is simpler in design and more compact in size compared to conventional bandstop structures.

Branch-Line Couplers Using Defected Ground Structure

IEICE Transactions on Communications, 2005
In this letter, a novel design of a branch-line coupler with considerable reduction in its size and suppressed harmonic passband is proposed. By embedding a defected ground structure (DGS) unit cell under a microstrip line, compact branch-line couplers are easily achieved. The electrical length is scaled appropriately according to the slow-wave effect.

Square shape MIMO antenna with defected ground structure

2018 4th International Conference on Recent Advances in Information Technology (RAIT), 2018
MIMO antenna with compact size of 26 × 40 mm2 is proposed. Two square shaped planar monopoles are proposed with micro strip feed lines. To achieve better isolation defective ground structure (DGS) is introduced. The patch operating at a frequency range of 2.2 to 7.2 GHz which covers WLAN/ Wi-Max/ Wi-Fi applications.

Defected and floating ground structures for vertical interconnects

2009 European Microwave Conference (EuMC), 2009
Defected and floating ground structures for vertical interconnects are investigated up to the E-band. For quasi symmetrical microstrip-to-microstrip (MS-to-MS) transitions the effect of shape and size of ground plane cutouts is studied. In addition, floating ground pads are proposed to enhance the matching of asymmetrical microstrip-to-stripline (MS-to-

Design of H-shape Defected Ground Structure

2020 IEEE International RF and Microwave Conference (RFM), 2020
This paper presents the design of an H-shape defected ground structure (DGS). Full EM-wave simulation of the design was carried out by using the Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software. The influence of some DGS design parameters on the resonant frequency was simulated and studied.

Quasi-static modeling of defected ground structure

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2006
A quasi-static equivalent-circuit model of a dumbbell-shaped defected ground structure is developed. The equivalent-circuit model is derived from the equivalent inductance and capacitance developed due to the perturbed return current path on the ground and the narrow gap, respectively. The theory is validated against the commercial full-wave solver CST

Effects of a Lumped Element on Defected Ground Structures

30th European Microwave Conference, 2000, 2000
In this paper, effects of a lumped element on a DGS (Defected Ground Structure), which is etched on the metallic ground plane, were investigated. In order to demonstrate effects of a lumped element, which is placed on DGS section, we proposed a DGS with a dumbbell shape and implemented a parallel resonator with the proposed DGS.

2D defected ground structures in microstrip line

2012 5th International Conference on Computers and Devices for Communication (CODEC), 2012
In this paper, two-dimensional (2D) defected ground structures (DGS) are proposed in microstrip line. The dumbbell structure is added as a unit-cell in a systematic manner in both horizontal and vertical directions to construct the 2D-DGS. This technique best utilizes the area to get very low stop band frequencies.
