Novel Electroactive Therapeutic Platforms for Cardiac Arrhythmia Management

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Electroactive platforms offer promising applications in cardiac arrhythmia. Based on their energy sources and mechanisms, electroactive platforms are categorized into i) direct electrical stimulation, ii) self‐powered electroactive systems, iii) physical stimuli‐mediated electroactive systems, and iv) conductive systems, and their applications in ...

Animal models of cisplatin‐induced neuropathic pain

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This article illustrates the modeling process of a cisplatin‐induced neuropathic pain model in rats or mice. Multiple modeling tests are required for rats or mice before, during, and after modeling. The appropriate injection method, dose, and modeling method are selected, and multiple assays are chosen for evaluation and comparison.

Effect of Amplitude Spectral Area on Termination of Fibrillation and Outcomes in Pediatric Cardiac Arrest

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2021
Background Amplitude spectral area (AMSA) predicts termination of fibrillation (TOF) with return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) and survival in adults but has not been studied in pediatric cardiac arrest. We characterized AMSA during pediatric cardiac

KBTBD13 is a novel cardiomyopathy gene

open access: yesHuman Mutation, Volume 43, Issue 12, Page 1860-1865, December 2022., 2022
Abstract KBTBD13 variants cause nemaline myopathy type 6 (NEM6). The majority of NEM6 patients harbors the Dutch founder variant, c.1222C>T, p.Arg408Cys (KBTBD13 p.R408C). Although KBTBD13 is expressed in cardiac muscle, cardiac involvement in NEM6 is unknown. Here, we constructed pedigrees of three families with the KBTBD13 p.R408C variant.

Low‐field MRI: Clinical promise and challenges

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Volume 57, Issue 1, Page 25-44, January 2023., 2023
Modern MRI scanners have trended toward higher field strengths to maximize signal and resolution while minimizing scan time. However, high‐field devices remain expensive to install and operate, making them scarce outside of high‐income countries and major population centers.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation quality parameters from motion capture data using Differential Evolution fitting of sinusoids [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Soft Computing, Volume 79, June 2019, Pages 300-309, 2018
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is alongside electrical defibrillation the most crucial countermeasure for sudden cardiac arrest, which affects thousands of individuals every year. In this paper, we present a novel approach including sinusoid models that use skeletal motion data from an RGB-D (Kinect) sensor and the Differential Evolution (DE ...

Increased bystander intervention when volunteer responders attend out-of-hospital cardiac arrest

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2022
AimThe primary aim was to investigate the association between alarm acceptance compared to no-acceptance by volunteer responders, bystander intervention, and survival in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.Materials and methodsThis retrospective observational
