Cracking the code of the slow code: A taxonomy of slow code practices and their clinical and ethical implications

open access: yesBioethics, Volume 39, Issue 4, Page 309-317, May 2025.
Abstract The ethical permissibility of the “slow code” sparks vigorous debate. However, definitions of the “slow code” that exist in the literature often leave room for interpretation. Thus, those assessing the ethical permissibility of the slow code may not be operating with shared definitions, and definitions may not align with clinicians ...

Predictors of Incident Heart Failure in Patients With Chronic Chagas Disease Cardiomyopathy

open access: yesEchocardiography, Volume 42, Issue 5, May 2025.
While most clinical parameters were not associated with incident heart failure (HF) in patients with chronic Chagas disease cardiomyopathy, echocardiographic parameters, including LV systolic and strain‐derived parameters, were associated with incident HF. This knowledge can be very useful for planning the care and follow‐up of these patients. ABSTRACT

Right Bundle Branch Block After Transvenous Lead Extraction: An Unreported Complication With Potentially Severe Outcomes

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, Volume 48, Issue 5, Page 508-512, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Right bundle branch block (RBBB) following cardiac device extraction has not been previously reported but may have catastrophic consequences. Methods and Results We present two cases of young male patients who developed RBBB following the extraction of single chamber TV ICD systems where the coil was adherent close to the superior

Attenuation of Post-Shock Increases in Brain Natriuretic Peptide with Post Shock Overdrive Pacing

open access: yesIndian Pacing and Electrophysiology Journal, 2010
Background: Predischarge defibrillation threshold testing is often performed a few days after ICD implantation in order to validate defibrillation thresholds obtained at the time of implant.

Subcutaneous cardioverter-defibrillator implantation in an adult with congenital heart disease and left infra-mammary pacemaker

open access: yesIndian Pacing and Electrophysiology Journal
The approach/type of an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) is determined by the underlying cardiac anatomy, venous access, and pre-existing cardiac implantable electronic devices.
