Comparative Clinical Outcomes Across Ambulatory Cardiac Monitoring Modalities

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 10, October 2026.
In >350 000 commercially insured and Medicare Advantage patients undergoing ambulatory cardiac monitoring, outcomes varied across modalities and vendors. A specific long‐term continuous monitor was associated with generally higher claims‐based arrhythmia yield and lower repeat monitoring than most alternatives, as well as lower hospitalization, health ...

Application and challenges of telephone‐assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitation combined with unmanned aerial vehicle‐mounted automated external defibrillator in out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest

open access: yesHong Kong Journal of Emergency Medicine, Volume 33, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Background Out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is a leading cause of death worldwide. Telephone‐assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (TCPR) and automated external defibrillators (AEDs) improve survival, but traditional emergency systems face delays due to traffic and geography.

Nationwide Lifespan Trends in Cardiac Implantable Electronic Device Strategies in Japan: Age‐Dependent Changes in Transvenous and Epicardial Systems

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 5, October 2026.
Nationwide data revealed age‐dependent differences in CIED implantation strategies. Epicardial systems remain essential in pediatric and congenital heart disease care, whereas alternative technologies are increasingly adopted in older adult populations, reflecting evolving lifespan‐related device strategies.

Risks of Appropriate Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator Therapy and Hospitalization Are Increased Around Device‐Detected Atrial High‐Rate Episodes Longer Than 6 min

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 5, October 2026.
Device‐detected atrial high‐rate episodes (AHREs) lasting ≥ 6 min identify a transient period of increased clinical risk in ICD patients. During the 60‐day peri‐AHRE period, risks of appropriate ICD shock, any appropriate ICD therapy, and cardiac hospitalization were significantly increased.
