Deflection, Frequency, and Stress Characteristics of Rectangular, Triangular, and Step Profile Microcantilevers for Biosensors

open access: yesSensors, 2009
This study presents the deflection, resonant frequency and stress results of rectangular, triangular, and step profile microcantilevers subject to surface stress. These cantilevers can be used as the sensing element in microcantilever biosensors.

DEFLECTED PRESENTATION IN LABOR. [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1902
The obstetrical terminology lacks in general exactness and precision. This is especially true, so far as slightly deflected head presentations are concerned. Not only in occasional papers and in general practice, but in textbooks which are considered standard books the normal head presentation is spoken of as vertex presentation, while there is no ...

Deflecting Adversarial Attacks

open access: yesCoRR, 2020
There has been an ongoing cycle where stronger defenses against adversarial attacks are subsequently broken by a more advanced defense-aware attack. We present a new approach towards ending this cycle where we "deflect'' adversarial attacks by causing the attacker to produce an input that semantically resembles the attack's target class.

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Effect of the cosmological constant on the deflection angle by a rotating cosmic string

open access: yes, 2018
We report the effect of the cosmological constant and the internal energy density of a cosmic string on the deflection angle of light in the spacetime of a rotating cosmic string with internal structure.

Modulating Two‐Photon Absorption in a Pyrene‐Based MOF Series: An In‐Depth Investigation of Structure–Property Relationships

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates H4TBAPy‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) ‐ NU‐1000, NU‐901, SrTBAPy, and BaTBAPy ‐ for multiphoton absorption (MPA) performance. It observes topology‐dependent variations in the 2PA cross‐section, with BaTBAPy exhibiting the highest activity.

Distributed dislocation-residual stress model of cold rolled strips based on the complex variable function method of plane elasticity

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2016
In order to reveal the formation mechanism of the manifested waves of cold rolled strips, the distributed dislocation was calculated by using measured residual stress, and a distributed dislocation-residual stress model was proposed. The stress field of an

Stern-Gerlach Effect of Weak-Light Ultraslow Vector Solitons

open access: yes, 2012
We propose a scheme to exhibit Stern-Gerlach (SG) deflection of high-dimensional vector optical soliton (VOS) at weak-light level in a cold atomic gas via electromagnetically induced transparency.

Electroactive Metal–Organic Frameworks for Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrocatalysis is crucial in sustainable energy conversion as it enables efficient chemical transformations. The review discusses how metal–organic frameworks can revolutionize this field by offering tailorable structures and active site tunability, enabling efficient and selective electrocatalytic processes.

Gravitational Lensing by Rotating Wormholes

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper the deflection angle of light by a rotating Teo wormhole spacetime is calculated in the weak limit approximation. We mainly focus on the weak deflection angle by revealing the gravitational lensing as a partially global topological effect ...
