LOW TEMPERATURE DEFORMATION AND STRENGTH OF POLYIMIDE FILMS DUE TO THICKNESS AND DEFORMATION SPEED

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics, 2017
In work mechanical properties of polyimide films analogue kapton H (manufactures of the People's Republic of China) with different thickness in the temperature interval 77-293 K and deformation speed interval 10-4-10-3 s-1 are carried out.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Extensional flow-based microfluidic device: deformability assessment of red blood cells in contact with tumor cells

open access: yes, 2014
Red blood cell (RBC) deformability has become one of the important factors to assess blood and cardiovascular diseases. The interest on blood studies have promoted a development of various microfluidic devices that treat and analyse blood cells. Recent

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Spin label study of erythrocyte deformability. Ca2+-induced loss of deformability and the effects of stomatocytogenic reagents on the deformability loss in human erythrocytes in shear flow

open access: yes, 1987
The Ca2+-induced loss of deformability in human erythrocytes and the recovery of the lost deformability by stomatocytogenic reagents were investigated by means of a new flow electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spin label method, which provides ...

Controlled Coffee Intake Enhances Erythrocyte Deformability, Na,K-ATPase Activity, and GSH/GSSG Ratio in Healthy Young Adults

open access: yesBiomedicines
Background: Published studies suggest that regular coffee consumption may reduce the risk of various diseases. However, many of these studies relied on questionnaire-based data, limiting their ability to identify the specific biological mechanisms behind

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Influence of Platelet Activation on Erythrocyte Deformability

open access: yes, 1983
Erythrocyte deformability was demonstrated to be influenced by platelet activation. Deformability of erythrocytes suspended in autologous platelet poor plasma (PPP), obtained from platelet rich plasma (PRP), was significantly reduced when PRP had ...
