High Health Care Utilization Preceding Diagnosis With Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Although early diagnosis improves long‐term outcomes, patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) often experience prolonged, circuitous paths to diagnosis. To inform diagnostic improvement, we sought to characterize health care utilization in the year preceding diagnosis. Methods We identified 10,021 patients with an incident diagnosis

DEFORMED INSTANTONS [PDF]

open access: yesCPT and Lorentz Symmetry, 2005
In this talk, instantons are discussed in the presence of Lorentz violation. Conventional topological arguments are applied to classify the modified solutions to the Yang-Mills equations according to the topological charge. Explicit perturbations to the instantons are calculated in detail for the case of unit topological charge.

Cumulative Social Disadvantage and Disease Activity in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: A Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance Registry Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Social determinants of health (SDOH) contribute to juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) disparities, but most studies have assessed SDOH independently rather than cumulatively across individual, family, and neighborhood levels. Using a socioecological framework, we investigated the relationship among cumulative social disadvantage ...

Biopsychosocial Determinants of Hand Function and Its Trajectories Over Five Years in Patients With Hand Osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aimed to investigate hand function trajectories over five years in primary hand osteoarthritis (OA). Additionally, determinants of baseline and longitudinal hand function were assessed. Methods A total of 538 patients with both baseline and five‐year study visits were analyzed.

Red blood cell deformability in multiple myeloma

open access: yes, 2018
The aim of this study was the evaluation of the erythrocyte deformability in multiple myeloma (MM). We enrolled 29MM patients and we evaluated, on fasting venous blood, the erythrocyte deformability, expressed as elongation index, and examined using the ...

Evaluation method with finite-element analysis for bending rupture limit of line pipe with high design factor

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2016
This study focused on ruptures due to bending deformation of steel pipe that is operated with a high design factor. The design factor refers to the ratio of the hoop stress from internal pressure to the yield strength of pipe material.

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Circulating tumour cells deformability measurement in microfluidics

open access: yes, 2023
During the last years, the deformability characterization of non-adherent cells like circulating tumour cells (CTCs) and immune cells gained a lot of attention since mechanical forces regulate the deformation, organization, and translocation of ...

Optical nano-tweezers for single cell deformability

open access: yes, 2023
International audienceIt is now well recognized that mechanical phenotype of biological cells are related to their physio-pathological state. For example, variation of Red Blood Cells (RBCs) deformability is associated with malaria [1] and increase ...
