Deformable registration for image-guided radiation therapy [PDF]

open access: yesZeitschrift Fur Medizinische Physik, 2006
Ths paper examines several applications of deformable registration algorithms in the field of image-guided radiotherapy. The first part focuses on the description of input and output of deformable registration algorithms, with a brief review of conventional and most current methods.

Deformable image registration

IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005, 2005
The paper describes a novel deformable data registration algorithm. The proposed method can be seen as a tradeoff between the landmark and intensity driven data registration techniques. The algorithm is fast, robust and offers high registration accuracy. The algorithm enables to include complex constraints on the allowable data deformations.

Deformable Image Registration Using Functions of Bounded Deformation

IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2019
Deformable image registration is a widely used technique in the field of computer vision and medical image processing. Basically, the task of deformable image registration is to find the displacement field between the moving image and the fixed image. Many variational models are proposed for deformable image registration, under the assumption that the ...

DEFORMABLE REGISTRATION OF DTI AND SPGR IMAGES

2007 4th IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging: From Nano to Macro, 2007
Registration of DTI data with structure data, such as SPGR data, has import application in quantitative analysis of brain microstructures such as tissue diffusivity. However, due to potential problems such as EPI geometric distortion, partial volume effect and image reslicing errors, accurate registration of these two types of MRI images is challenging.

Breast Image Registration and Deformation Modeling

Critical Reviews™ in Biomedical Engineering, 2012
Image-based examination of the breast facilitates the detection of breast diseases, particularly of present benign and malignant lesions. For computer-aided processing of serial and multimodal clinical data, both for visual correlation and quantitative analysis, automated image-registration methods are an indispensable tool.

QUANTITATIVE EVALUATION OF DEFORMABLE IMAGE REGISTRATION

2007 4th IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging: From Nano to Macro, 2007
In this paper, a concept based on unbalanced energy is proposed to evaluate deformable registration algorithms. The new concept is demonstrated through the comparison of the ITK "demons" algorithm and thin-plate spline interpolation, performed on a prostate patient's CT images.

Dynamic meshing for deformable image registration

Computer-Aided Design, 2015
Finite element method (FEM) is commonly used for deformable image registration. However, there is no existing literature studying how the superimposed mesh structure would influence the image registration process. We study this problem in this paper, and propose a dynamic meshing strategy to generate mesh structure for image registration.

Deformable image registration with geometric changes

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering, 2015
Geometric changes present a number of difficulties in deformable image registration. In this paper, we propose a global deformation framework to model geometric changes whilst promoting a smooth transformation between source and target images. To achieve this, we have developed an innovative model which significantly reduces the side effects of ...
