GEOTECHNICAL ANALYSIS OF TRANSFORMING A WATER MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE TO A TRANSPORTATION STRUCTURE

open access: yesActa Polytechnica CTU Proceedings, 2021
This paper analyzes the transformation of the culvert channel under the supply channel of the Gabcíkovo Waterworks into a road tunnel structure and the impact this had on the surrounding rock environment. It presents the engineering-geological conditions

ANALYSIS ON q-DEFORMED QUANTUM SPACES [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2007
A q-deformed version of classical analysis is given to quantum spaces of physical importance, i.e. Manin plane, q-deformed Euclidean space in three or four dimensions, and q-deformed Minkowski space. The subject is presented in a rather complete and self-contained way. All relevant notions are introduced and explained in detail.

Friction Analysis on Scratch Deformation Modes of Visco-Elastic-Plastic Materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Understanding of abrasion resistance and associated surfaces deformation mechanisms is of primary importance in materials engineering and design. Instrumented scratch testing has proven to be a useful tool for characterizing the abrasion resistance of ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

A new sinusoidal shear deformation theory for bending, buckling, and vibration of functionally graded plates

open access: yes, 2013
A new sinusoidal shear deformation theory is developed for bending, buckling, and vibration of functionally graded plates. The theory accounts for sinusoidal distribution of transverse shear stress, and satisfies the free transverse shear stress ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Uporabnost izbranih metod deformacijske analize na praktičnih primerih geodetskih mrež : Applicability of Selected Methods of Deformation Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesGeodetski Vestnik, 2006
The basic problem in deformation analysis is detection and determination of stability or displacement of the points in the geodetic network during two epochs.

Visualization of the Strain-Rate State of a Data Cloud: Analysis of the Temporal Change of an Urban Multivariate Description

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
One challenging problem is the representation of three-dimensional datasets that vary with time. These datasets can be thought of as a cloud of points that gradually deforms.
