Exact Solutions for Equations of Bose-Fermi Mixtures in One-Dimensional Optical Lattice

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2007
We present two new families of stationary solutions for equations of Bose-Fermi mixtures with an elliptic function potential with modulus $k$. We also discuss particular cases when the quasiperiodic solutions become periodic ones.

On the Structure of BV Entropy Solutions for Hyperbolic Systems of Balance Laws with General Flux Function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The paper describes the qualitative structure of BV entropy solutions of a general strictly hyperbolic system of balance laws with characteristic field either piecewise genuinely non- linear or linearly degenerate.

From Rigid to Soft Robotic Approaches for Neuroendoscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Robotic assistance has had minimal impact on deep intraventricular surgeries, where small‐scale, precision, and reduced invasiveness can contribute to improved patient outcomes. Emerging technologies in rigid, soft, and hybrid robotics are reviewed to identify the most promising mechanisms for deep brain navigation in addition to an attempt to identify

Boundary observability and null-controllability for non-autonomous degenerate hyperbolic equations via energy estimates [PDF]

open access: yes
Motivated by the broad applications of wave propagation in non-uniform and time-varying environments, such as in acoustics, elasticity, and seismology, we investigate the controllability of degenerate wave equations with time-dependent wave speeds.

Multiobjective Codesign Optimization of a Planar Pneumatic Artificial Muscle‐Based Snake‐Like Robot for Enhanced Agility and Energy Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A codesign multiobjective optimization framework was developed to enhance the morphology and controller of a snake‐like robot driven by artificial muscles. It improved planar locomotion, agility, and power efficiency. The approach optimized link geometry and controller gains, revealing that shorter muscles near joints and longer linkages maximize ...

Conservation laws for equations of mixed elliptic-hyperbolic and degenerate types

open access: yes, 2005
For partial differential equations of mixed elliptic-hyperbolic and degenerate types which are the Euler-Lagrange equations for an associated Lagrangian, invariance with respect to changes in independent and dependent variables is investigated, as are

Edible Pouch Motors

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Edible robotics is an emerging field that leverages edible materials to construct robotic systems. This study presents a method to create thin, lightweight, yet powerful edible soft actuators, namely edible pouch motors. The successful operation of these edible actuators and grippers renders their potential to advance future developments in edible ...

On the solvability of degenerate stochastic partial differential equations in Sobolev spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Systems of parabolic, possibly degenerate parabolic SPDEs are considered. Existence and uniqueness are established in Sobolev spaces. Similar results are obtained for a class of equations generalizing the deterministic first order symmetric hyperbolic ...

Tumbling Magnetic Microrobots for Targeted In Vivo Drug Delivery in the GI Tract

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
We introduce a microrobot design and integrated system for on‐demand targeted drug release in the gastrointestinal tract. The microrobot has an embedded magnet for actuation with external magnetic fields and is visualized in real time using ultrasound. It has two drug release ports sealed with a thermally sensitive wax. Local heating of the wax using a
