Finite-dimensionality of attractors for wave equations with degenerate nonlocal damping
In this paper we study the fractal dimension of global attractors for a class of wave equations with (single-point) degenerate nonlocal damping. Both the equation and its linearization degenerate into linear wave equations at the degenerate point and the

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

On the non-integrability of the Popowicz peakon system [PDF]
We consider a coupled system of Hamiltonian partial differential equations introduced by Popowicz, which has the appearance of a two-field coupling between the Camassa-Holm and Degasperis-Procesi equations.

The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

Evolution of statistically inhomogeneous degenerate water wave quartets
A discretized equation for the evolution of random surface wave fields on deep water is derived from Zakharov's equation, allowing for a general treatment of the stability and long-time behaviour of broad-banded sea states.

Exponential Stability for a Degenerate/Singular Beam-Type Equation in Non-Divergence Form
The paper deals with the stability of a degenerate/singular beam equation in non-divergence form. In particular, we assume that the degeneracy and the singularity are at the same boundary point and we impose clamped conditions where the degeneracy occurs

This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...

Non-sharp travelling wave fronts in the Fisher equation with degenerate nonlinear diffusion.
When degenerate nonlinear diffusion is introduced into the Fisher equation, giving ut = (uux)x + u(1 − u), the travelling wave structure changes so that there is a sharp-front wave for one particular wave speed, with smooth-front waves for all faster ...

Ion-acoustic waves with orbital angular momentum in a partially degenerate plasma
In this paper, we investigate the properties of ion-acoustic waves (IAWs) with finite orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes in a collisionless, unmagnetized, and homogeneous non-relativistic plasma comprised of degenerate electron species and inertial ...
