Introduction. The use of extreme lateral interbody fusion (XLIF) and other lateral access surgery is rapidly increasing in popularity. However, limited data is available regarding its use in scoliosis surgery. The objective of this study was to evaluate

This study aimed to analyze the effect of patient positions on the lordosis and scoliosis of patients with degenerative lumbar scoliosis (DLS).Seventy-seven patients with DLS were retrospectively analyzed. We measured lordosis and Cobb's angle on preoperative upright x-rays and magnetic resonance imagings in supine position.

Overview of the effects of Pax1‐SAR deletion on gene expression, IVD degeneration, and resultant scoliotic‐like curvature between sexes. Proposed mechanism of sex‐dependent changes in gene expression in females (right) and males (left), resulting in sex‐dependent disc degeneration and scoliotic phenotypes.

Long vs. short fusions for adult lumbar degenerative scoliosis: does balance matters?
Purpose: Surgery of adult scoliosis was based upon coronal plane radiographical analysis using Cobb angle measurements, but recently it has been demonstrated that sagittal spinopelvic alignment plays a critical role in determining the final outcome.

Statistical shape models (SSMs) derived from standard 2D lumbar MRIs capture coordinated morphological features that distinguish severe from normal spinal stenosis. Both intervertebral disc and combined models provide strong discriminatory power, comparable to or exceeding traditional anatomical measurements.

Illustrative case of multiple-level oblique lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF)
We report the case of an 80-year old man who presented with nonischemic neurogenic claudication having predominantly right leg radiating pain. Magnetic resonance imaging confirmed it as a case of multiple level lumbar canal stenosis (L2-3, L3-4, L4-5 ...
