Instantons and Monopoles in General Abelian Gauges [PDF]
A relation between the total instanton number and the quantum-numbers of magnetic monopoles that arise in general Abelian gauges in SU(2) Yang-Mills theory is established.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Equivalent topological invariants of topological insulators
A time-reversal invariant topological insulator can be generally defined by the effective topological field theory with a quantized \theta coefficient, which can only take values of 0 or \pi.

Are there static texture? [PDF]
We consider harmonic maps from Minkowski space into the three sphere. We are especially interested in solutions which are asymptotically constant, i.e. converge to the same value in all directions of spatial infinity.

Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Gradation of Algebras of Curves by the Winding Number
We construct a new grading on the Goldman Lie algebra of a closed oriented surface by the winding number. This grading induces a grading on the HOMFLY-PT skein algebra and related algebras. Our work supports the conjectures of B.

Topological Defects and Gapless Modes in Insulators and Superconductors [PDF]
We develop a unified framework to classify topological defects in insulators and superconductors described by spatially modulated Bloch and Bogoliubov de Gennes Hamiltonians.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

We analyze quasi-topological solitons winding around a mexican-hat potential in two space-time dimensions. They are prototypes for a large number of physical excitations, including Skyrmions of the Higgs sector of the standard electroweak model ...
