Intrinsic degrees of coherence of partially polarized light
SPIE Proceedings, 2006We address the problem of defining degrees of coherence for partially polarized light. We discuss a new theoretical approach that introduces intrinsic degrees of coherence. These parameters make it possible to separate partial polarization and partial coherence and are measurable quantities.

Degree of coherence of the electromagnetic field
Physics Letters, 1963The vector (rather than the usual scalar) description of coherence properties of the electromagnetic field is considered. Only quasimonochromatic stationary electromagnetic fields are discussed. A general interference law for the electromagnetic field (similar in form to the scalar law) is derived. An expression for the degree of coherence of the field

Proposal for the determination of the complex degree of spatial coherence
Optics Letters, 1977With the help of a folded-wavefront type of interferometer, a sinusoidally phase-modulated wavefront can be superposed in parallel on another nonmodulated inverse wavefront. Spatial coherence is related to the fundamental and second-harmonic components of the modulation frequency included in the resultant intensity.

We will show that two light beams may have different degrees of polarization, even though they have the same sets of Stokes parameters in the source plane. Reasons for this will also be discussed.

Coherence degree of a partially coherent Bessel beam in turbulent atmosphere
26th International Symposium on Atmospheric and Ocean Optics, Atmospheric Physics, 2020The results of theoretical researches of coherence properties of partially coherent Bessel optical beams in turbulent atmosphere are presented. Coherence degree of such beams depending on beams parameters and characteristics of turbulent atmosphere is analyzed in detail.

On Quantifying the Degree of Coherence in Qubits
Frontiers in Optics + Laser Science 2025 (FiO, LS)We specifically define the amount of coherence that a specific state holds. We quantify the "quantum character" of qubits by considering their temporal evolution of the coherent character through off-diagonal density matrix elements.

Degree of Coherence in the Image of a Quasi-Monochromatic Source
Applied Optics, 1967A method is described for measuring the modulus of the degree of coherence in a plane illuminated directly or through an optical system, by a quasi-monochromatic source which may be coherent, partially coherent, or incoherent. A birefringent element is placed after the plane in which the degree of coherence is to be measured and an image of this plane ...

Interferences in degree of coherence and polarization with partially coherent light beams
Journal of the Optical Society of America AWe theoretically propose an experimental scheme to observe the interference effect in the degree of coherence and polarization. With the fact that the phase difference can be significantly affected by the low coherence length, we predict that the degree of coherence and polarization of the light beam after passing through a double-slit can be modified ...
