International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, 2022
Underactuated systems are extensively utilized in practice while attracting a huge deal of attention in theoretical studies. There are few robust control strategies for general underactuated systems because of the variety of their dynamic models.

Journal of Non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics, 2021
In this paper, the two-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) vortex-induced vibration (VIV) of a circular cylinder in shear-thinning and shear-thickening non-Newtonian power-law fluids are numerically investigated.

7 degree-of-freedom neuroprosthetic control by an individual with tetraplegia
The Lancet, 2013SUMMARY Background We use our arms to transport and orient the hand which is used to grasp and manipulate objects. Upper limb paralysis or amputation limits a person’s ability to interact with their environment to accomplish activities of daily living ...

Insights into instability of friction-induced vibration of multi-degree-of-freedom models
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2021This study addresses a fundamental problem of linear friction-induced vibration (FiV), the intriguing role of damping on the instability of FiV in the form of mode-coupling.

Degrees of freedom of turbulence
Physical Review A, 1987We compute in the framework of a multifractal model for three-dimensional fully developed turbulence the number of degrees of freedom N as function of the Reynolds number R. $N--- depends on the whole spectrum of singularities h related to the anomalous scaling of the velocity differences.

Representation of orientation is important in a six-degree-of-freedom grating interferometer but only a few studies have focused on this topic. Roll-pitch-yaw angles, widely used in aviation, navigation, and robotics, are now being brought to the field ...

Polarization degrees of freedom
2008 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2008This paper unifies the different conclusions on the polarization degrees of freedom in multiple-antenna channels. It shows that the multiplicative gain in the degrees of freedom from polarization depends on the array geometry and the scattering condition.

Distances as Degrees of Freedom
Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, 1989Tertiary contact distance information of varying resolution for large biological molecules abounds in the literature. The results provided herein develop a framework by which information of this type can be used to reduce the allowable configuration space of a macromolecule. The approach combines graph theory and distance geometry.
