AbstractMetasurfaces are ultrathin optical elements that can manipulate the light at subwavelength scale. The light input on the metasurface can be converted into output with abrupt changes of amplitude, phase, and polarization (APP) properties. However, a simultaneous and arbitrary conversion of all the three optical properties is not yet realized. In

POLARIZATION DEGREES OF FREEDOM IN ELECTRON SCATTERING FROM NUCLEI
1986Various aspects of polarization degrees of freedom in electron scattering are discussed in these lectures, including what happens when incident or scattered electrons are polarized and what happens when the target nucleus is polarized or when some part of the final-state polarization is measured (for instance, the polarization of the recoilling nucleus

Automatically controlled polarization controllers (PC) are essential integral parts in an automatic compensator for PMD. It is suggested by K. Karsson et al. and afterward widely believed that we need to adjust only two waveplate PC (two degrees of freedom, DOF) for each stage PMD compensator to complete PMD compensation, because it is believed that ...

We demonstrate two entanglement concentration protocols (ECPs) for photon pairs in less-hyperentanglement, the simultaneous entanglement in multiple degrees of freedom. Using these ECPs, some maximally entangled states in polarization can be reconstructed deterministically from less-hyperentangled ones shared between remote participants.

Quantum delayed-choice protocol by means of the polarization degree of freedom of a photon
Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2018In this work, we revisit the previously demonstrated experiment called the quantum delayed-choice experiment [Phys. Rev. Lett.107, 230406 (2011)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.107.230406], which shows that it is possible to reveal the wave and particle nature of photons simultaneously.

Abstract Tensor analyzing power T 20 for d ↑ + 12 C → π ± (0°) + X has been measured with a polarized deuteron beam from 6.2 to 9.0 GeV/c at a pion momentum of 3.0 GeV/c. The present experiment focuses on “cumulatively produced pions”, which are produced beyond the kinematically allowed limit for a free nucleon-nucleon collision.
