Design and Mixing Analysis of a Passive Micromixer Based on Curly Baffles
A novel passive micromixer based on curly baffles is proposed and optimized through the signal-to-noise analysis of various design parameters. The mixing performance of the proposed design was evaluated across a wide Reynolds number range, from 0.1 to 80.

Dissolved Organic Carbon Source Attribution in the Changjiang Outflow Region of the East China Sea
The variable optical properties of chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM) under the complicated dynamic marine environment make it difficult to establish a robust inversion algorithm for quantifying the dissolved organic carbon (DOC).

Composition and cycling of dissolved organic matter from tropical peatlands of coastal Sarawak, Borneo, revealed by fluorescence spectroscopy and parallel factor analysis [PDF]
Southeast Asian peatlands supply ∼10 % of the global flux of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) from land to the ocean, but the biogeochemical cycling of this peat-derived DOC in coastal environments is still poorly understood.

Effects of Baffle Configuration on Mixing in a T-Shaped Micro-Channel
A numerical study was performed for a T-shaped microchannel to enhance mixing performance through a baffle configuration. The mixing performance was analyzed in terms of the DOM (degree of mixing) and the pressure load between the two inlets and outlet ...

Estimating and Sampling Graphs with Multidimensional Random Walks [PDF]
Estimating characteristics of large graphs via sampling is a vital part of the study of complex networks. Current sampling methods such as (independent) random vertex and random walks are useful but have drawbacks.

Mixing-induced quantum non-Markovianity and information flow [PDF]
Mixing dynamical maps describing open quantum systems can lead from Markovian to non-Markovian processes. Being surprising and counter-intuitive, this result has been used as argument against characterization of non-Markovianity in terms of information ...

Exact thresholds for Ising-Gibbs samplers on general graphs [PDF]
We establish tight results for rapid mixing of Gibbs samplers for the Ferromagnetic Ising model on general graphs. We show that if \[(d-1)\tanh\beta1$, respectively. To our knowledge our results give the first tight sufficient conditions for rapid mixing

Preferred levels for background ducking to produce esthetically pleasing audio for TV with clear speech [PDF]
In audio production, background ducking facilitates speech intelligibility while allowing the background to fulfill its purpose, e.g., to create ambience, set the mood, or convey semantic cues.
