Pioglitazone plus (−)‐epigallocatechin gallate: a novel approach to enhance osteogenic performance in aged bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Aged human bmMSCs are seeded in the scaffold. Osteoblastic induction can slightly increase cell's bone‐forming activity to produce bone‐like tissues, shown as the sporadic xylenol orange‐stained spots (the lower left image). Notably, pioglitazone plus EGCG co‐treatment dramatically increases cell's bone‐forming activity and bone‐like tissue production (

Determination of Degree of Polymerization of Sodium Alginate

open access: yesThe Journal of the Society of Chemical Industry, Japan, 1958

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Degree of conversion and microhardness of different composite resins polymerized with an advanced LED-curing unit

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Background The aim was to evaluate the effects of different curing times (3s/10s/20s) of an advanced Light-Emitting Diode (LED) curing unit on the degree of conversion (DC%), microhardness, and hardness ratio of three different composite resin materials.

Modification Methods’ Effects on the Characteristics of Carboxylated Cellulose Fibers: Carboxyl Group Introduction Method versus Physical Properties

open access: yesBioResources
Cotton fibers were modified by TEMPO oxidation, sodium periodate oxidation, and sodium chloroacetate etherification to obtain carboxylated cellulose fibers with similar carboxyl content (about 70 mmol/100 g). The characteristics of carboxylated cellulose

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...
