Antiferromagnetic Chains in a Monolayer of Molecular Qubits Assembled on Graphene. [PDF]

open access: yesSmall
This work explores the deposition onto graphene of a dithiazole‐based molecular qubit, [Cu(dttt)2], (dttt− = 1,3,2‐dithiazole‐4‐thione‐5‐thiolate), under ultra‐high vacuum conditions. Analytical techniques, including STM, XPS, and X‐ray absorption, reveal the molecular arrangement and magnetic interactions, emphasizing the role of vdW interactions in ...

Proximity Induced Magnetic Anisotropy and Trefoil Fermiology in Monolayer FeCl2/Bi(111). [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Mater
Reorientation of magnetic anisotropy in a 2D van der Waals magnet is demonstrated in monolayer FeCl2 epitaxially grown on a bismuth substrate, from its natural out‐of‐plane direction to a predominantly in‐plane orientation. The FeCl2/bismuth heterostructure exhibits moiré‐induced interface states, suggesting strong coupling at the interface.

Excitation of Tumbling in Phobos and Deimos. [PDF]

open access: yesIcarus, 2020
Mass-spring model simulations are used to investigate past spin states of a viscoelastic Phobos and Deimos. From an initially tidally locked state, we find crossing of a spin-orbit resonance with Mars or a mean motion resonance with each other does not excite tumbling in Phobos or Deimos. However, once tumbling our simulations show that these moons can

A high transmission tender X-ray monochromator employing a matched pair of multilayer grating and mirror. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Synchrotron Radiat
Monochromators based on multilayer gratings can provide a very high throughput on an extended energy range (1 to 5 keV) in the tender X‐ray domain. A multilayer mirror must be associated with the grating to achieve a fixed exit direction. We show how important an accurate modeling of the reflectivity of these two elements is to achieve both an optimal ...

From Thin Films to Nanodots: Bottom-Up Integration of Fe3O4 on Nb:STO for Functional Oxide Nanostructures. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Mater
Scalable bottom‐up fabrication of Fe3O4 nanodots on Nb:SrTiO3 using anodic alumina templates enables long‐range ordered arrays with diameters down to 30 nm. STEM highlights the epitaxial growth of Fe3O4 films on Nb:SrTiO3. Complementary polarized neutron reflectometry (PNR) and X‐ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) measurements on continuous films ...
