Abstract Experience shows that the same types of delamination failures occur repeatedly, often when new coating systems are applied over old ones. The failures arise due to faulty specifications that fail to take into account the physics, chemistry and mechanical properties that govern coating behavior. Examples of this are given and the

Abstract The delamination and subsequent modification of a synthetic hectorite clay, laponite, has been investigated as a route to new supports and catalysts possessing exposed crystalline surfaces. Delamination was carrier out by freeze drying aqueous suspensions of laponite.

Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, 2010
This paper presents a finite element model of a carbon fibre composite laminate with multiple delaminations of realistic shape and including fibre fracture cracks loaded under compression. The modelling technique is initially applied on circular and elliptical delaminations of single ply sublaminates, which are compared with existing analytical ...

Effect of delamination angle on delamination energy
2000Different tests have been traditionally used to evaluate the delamination energy of paper and board. The values of delamination energy differ quite a bit. We propose that this is related to differences in the angle that opens between the delaminated faces of the specimen.

Advances in Delamination Modeling
2008Today’s microelectronic packages are typically composed of various materials, like silicon, metals, oxides, glues, and compounds (polymers). In Fig. 4.1, cross sections of a leadframe- and substrate-based package are depicted. Due to the dissimilar nature of these materials and the inherent presence of a large number of interfaces in each component ...

Do standard delamination tests relate to planar delamination growth?
2022Delamination growth in fibre reinforced polymer composites is generally evaluated with experiments that have been standardized for quasi-static load conditions. These tests characterize unidirectional delamination growth in mode I (DCB), mode II (ELS or ENF) of mixed mode conditions (MMB).
